The O.D.B
When Matt changes the call, he often has a tell and he needs to change things up. When changing the call Matt focuses his first yell at the person the play is designed for (many times). He often Starts with that person and then comes back to them a second time just before the play. In the SF game he changed the call to a play for JJ and when the play was executed a SF defender, not assigned to JJ, jumped the route and almost ended up with a pick. I've seen him do this many times over the years. Sometimes the person he talks to first is the RB and guess what, it's a run. Sometimes he doesn't even turn to talk to the RB guess what, it's a pass. Same thing when starting his announcement to the left or the right. I'm not football savvy enough to be calling out who's getting the ball pre-snap but in these instances I'm usually right. This gives the opposing defenses an edge we don't want them to have. Anyone else notice this? JDaveG

likeriver
That's interesting, but hopefully someone can shed light on this and hopefully prove you're wrong, because if a casual fan could identify that pattern then defensive player sure as **** could too. But I find it hard to believe Ryan and his coaches could allow such a glaring indicator slip through. It's like a tell he use to have and he worked on it but, it still eeks out at times. when it does come out it looks insanely obvious where the ball is going and the plays almost never go anywhere. I hope the coaches are catching those details too. likeriver, The O.D.B, Drew4719 and 1 other
FalconsIn2012
A defense knows where it is vulnerable based on the play called by the DC....it knows where the offense is likely to try and attack. As such, I’m not certain it matters all that much if we give away who the hot read is. I could be wrong, though likeriver
A Pimp Named Slickback™
I always thought he did that to make sure everyone hears/understands the play has been changed, and what they checked into.
