Considering we are a 4 win team, it should be concerning when you see available CAP next year.  Seattle has 72 million to improve their team while we are negative at the moment.  We will have to get worse in order to get under the CAP.

The graph below is for 2020.  And 2021 is worse.  We already have 181 million of 2021 CAP spent.  That leaves us just 27 million to work with while the NFL average is close to 80 million

1 MIA   108,976,646
2 IND   $108,119,195
3 TB   $93,322,985
4 BUF   $90,968,926
5 DAL   $88,881,491
6 HOU   $77,026,804
7 ARI

$74,368,571
8 SEA   $72,820,818

I mean imagine the roster if they had never been given the contracts.  We could add 6-7 very good starters for the 41 million they count on the CAP next year.

We are gonna have to get cheaper, and younger at CB1 and RB1. If we could walk away with Okudah and a RB I would be happy. That's why I want Bieniemy as HC. He would bring a run game and a good OL coach with him(hopefully).

I’ll stand by my assertion.  We have handed out too many elite level contracts.  Four appears to be the right number.  We have 7.  Just makes your roster much less balanced when it’s all said and done.

Remove Trufant, Matthews & Freeman’s contracts and we would have a far more balanced roster the next two years.  Of course you’d have to draft Matthews replacement which isn’t easy.

If that’s was there plan to resign the drafted developed talent it is what it is.It just hasn’t panned out and the results haven’t translated.

I can quiet easily see Tru Free Ty Beasley Carpenter Bosher Schaub let go giving us more room.

I’m keeping Matthews I think it’s natural over reaction about his performances the previous 2 weeks.

Blank better find a coach that can coach up some scrubs and a GM that can fix our cap. There are more attractive situations around the league for potential candidates so good luck with that. The next two years will be a challenge. Trust me.

Your not going to sign 6-7 “very good” starters for that money. FA prices are always grossly overinflated, unless you are gambling on players in their 30’s whose contracts are cheaper due to the risk of decline.

Is the amount projected to sign next years draft picks between 10 and 11 mil?

Probably but not all of it will be above the Top 51 line. Likely $8-9M. Better hit on em.

Never wanted to givr trufant that contract and still dont understand making an injured player your 2nd highest paid player. I dont like payimg rbs in general. Draft one every year and keep carousel going. Their shelf lives are just too short to gamble on. Pay rate for rbs on rookie deals should be increased .

Perhaps “very good starters” was a reach.  But for the 41 million spent on Tru, Freeman, Matthews, we could make a better, deeper roster.

I wonder if the cap situation is a discussion if the team has a winning record heading for the playoffs just saying.

I have had concerns about 2020 since the Matthews signing.  Getting Debo, Grady & Julio extended one the same offseason was always going to cause ripples.

But I thought the FO went all in for a SB this year so I was willing to ride with it
