Facts about Matt Ryan

Matt Ryan brought stability to the QB position in Atlanta and he has played well. He has even played great at times. But we also can’t ignore the flip side of that. He hasn’t elevated the team in the most crucial moments of his career. Football is a team sport and I’m not blaming the playoff losses solely on Matt, but he did not elevate the team as much as a (hof) or quote in quote *elite* qb has to.

A friend of mine asked me if Matt was the Qb for another franchise, would I go into a game against his team fearing him and what plays he could make against the Falcons. After thinking about it I had to face the truth and say NO!!! I would not have any fear of Matt Ryan as an opposing QB and play maker, the way I have worried about other qbs over the years. That said all that needed to be said.

Most important fact: No ring; Stat King.

If all you care about is championships then you picked the wrong team and city to be a fan, assuming you are one.  You only had like 1 major championship from all the pro teams in this city for like the last 50 years?  That’s what I don’t like about some of you Falcons fans.  You follow a pitiful franchise yet you look down on someone because they didn’t win a championship.  Sometimes people need to know their place in this world.  Beggars can’t be choosers.

Described this in another thread he’s a guy that does his job very well but not with the spectacular nature or his counterparts even though he’s every bit as good.

Its actually funny because in the STAT driven world of American sport Ryan’s numbers compare with the best of them.

End if the day he suffers from not winning the SB that’s it.

And in the end, that's all that matters.

I get that but realistically, QB discussion aside, how many franchises win a SB with perennially bad OLs and defenses?

If we want to consistently make the playoffs, these are important pieces to at least bring up to a respectable level. Too many failed attempts at both.

Not fair to Matt when he practically owns ALL of the records for best performance while still losing. Totally not fair when you can throw 5TDs and still lose, or have a **** near perfect rating and still lose, or have some of the best playoff performances in decades and still lose. The falcons have had terrible defenses since Matt’s been in the league.

Great article, very well written.  I wish the window lickers here would take 3 minutes out of their pissing and moaning routine and educate themselves.  But they won't.  Their brilliant minds have been already made up.

If they even gave him a average defense and ol his career would look so so so much different and these haters would be singing his praises.  But to them, he needs to overcome the opposing team's defense, opposing team's schemes, and his own team's awful defense, subpar oline, piss poor coaching and terrible schemes and pull wins out of his butt all by himself.  Herp derp.

It is a shame that they don't actually read this article. It's a bigger shame that this new breed of trolls aren't even football savvy. At least Swift was knowledgeable in football.
