What do you think the chances are we get Josh McDaniels as our head coach next year?

Recommended Posts

Assuming Dan Quinn does get fired at the end of the season, what do you think the chances are Arthur Blank tries to bring in Josh McDaniels? Do you think there is a realistic possibility Josh McDaniels would come here after the way he backed out of Colts deal? And do you think Josh would make a good head coach for our team? as he wasn't so great with Denver. Your thoughts?

I’m firmly in the Mike McCarthy is likely going to be our HC next year camp, as he fits all the criteria for a veteran team with SB aspirations. Having said that, if we go the coordinator route, McDaniels is the only one who also checks the boxes, since he’s been a head coach before.

I'm just hoping someone like Carolina doesn't take McCarthy or whoever Blank's number one choice is.

Edit: I thought you were talking about McDaniels, lol. That’s what this post is about, but I agree on McCarthy.

He’ll get the calls, for sure. I guess it comes down to how he views the offensive talent on each roster. I can’t see him being very interested in coaching Newton, but I could be wrong. The Dallas job would be a big draw, but I suspect Jerry is already preparing an insane offer to Lincoln Riley. The wildcard is Cleveland. A ton of young talent on that roster, but it can be dysfunctional.

If he’s actually interested in being a head coach and working without a net, our job has to be at or near the top. When a guy like him keeps passing up jobs, suddenly the league stops asking.

Mccarthy couldn't win with the best qb of our generation. I just don't understand the fascination with him other than that he rode Rodgers to a super bowl one time.

He’s probably got a better shot at taking over for Belichick

It’s going to be funny when Bill Belichick gives McDaniels the ultimate middle finger by enduring his son, Steve Belichick, is his successor in NE.

Let’s make a run at Steve for DC.  Maybe hiring him will garner us sympathy from his Old man.  lol...joking aside, he is running the most dominate unit in football two years running.

And apparently he has taken over playcalling

Report: Steve Belichick serving as Patriots’ defensive play caller

I personally believe Rodgers is the most overrated QB of our generation, but that's just me. People fall in love with his back shoulder throws and proclaim he's the best.

No idea what the chance is but I'm not a fan.  I've never cared for the dink and donk olympics of NE offenses (though effective) and MR2 isn't as good as Brady has been so I think we'd end up with a suckier version of that offense.   I also think JM backing out of the Indy job was one of those character moments that I think he failed.

I actually wouldn’t mind him or Bieniemy.
