Arthur Blank Is The Problem

Arthur Blank Is the problem. He's hired 4 head coaches and each one has had the same fatal flaw, all rah rah and no substance. They all talk a good game but none of them have the ability to go out there on the field during games and out scheme the other coach. They're playing checkers while other coaches coach circles around them playing chess. They're reactive instead of proactive.

The other major issue with Blank lies in the fact that he is loyal to guys like Rich McKay and Thomas Dimitroff that simply don't deserve it. Who in the world thought that it's a good idea to have the current front office makeup that the Falcons have? TD and Dan Quinn report separately to Blank? Wait, what?

That brings me to my last point, Blank Is a terrible owner because he has no idea what he's doing when it comes to the business side of football and yet he micromanages every aspect of the team. I get and understand that the man cares and wants to win but he's his own worst enemy. You would think that he would look at the Cowboys and Patriots and realize that there's a right way and a wrong way to do things. Jerry Jones and the Cowboys are the wrong way to do things as shown by the fact the Cowboys haven't won squat since Jerry ran Jimmy Johnson out of town and all Jimmy's players retired. Jerry continues to micromanage everything the Cowboys do and so they continue to not win. Meanwhile in New England Robert Kraft just signs the paychecks and sits in his little owner's box during games and let's Bill Belichick and the football people do their jobs without interfering.

Until Blank hires the right GM and gives said GM full reign to hire the coaches and pick the players without interfering the Falcons will never win squat. It's the cold hard truth of the situation. Many of you folks here are also Braves fans and so you're familiar with the Braves corporate ownership, but I say that the Braves are a much better well ran sports franchise because of that. They've got an absent minded ownership situation which means that the baseball people are actually allowed to do their jobs without interference. That is a much better plan for success than the current way the Falcons operate.

Someone posed the question on here asking if the Falcons would ever win the Super Bowl in our lifetime and sadly I say the answer is no and Arthur Blank Is the reason why.

There is NOTHING about AB that seems even remotely like Jerry Jones (who holds role of GM).   AB is more like Kraft if you ask me.  Kraft can enjoy the box because he has a guy who is so good he can GM, coach team, call plays for D and still win every year.   Our coach has no GM responsibilities, has a gaggle of experienced coaches on staff handling core head coach responsibilities, gave up play calling cause it wasn't working and is .500 going the wrong way over the past five years.   I also think it's kinda pointless to call out owners, even bad ones like Snyder up in Wash or meddlesome ones like JJ as they own these teams...they aren't publicly owned team like the Packers.

I love AB for all the good he's done. This franchise was a laughingstock before he took over.

But there is a lot of truth to this. The likely reason the soccer team won so quickly is he didn't know enough to tinker with it. He hired good people and signed checks.

I do however, disagree with the last paragraph. The man can learn what not to do.

We can sit here and say we shouldn't fire before the holidays,  or even worry about it until season's end. But you have to remember something. ...if that is done now like it should be...it sends a very Powerful message to the next Coaches.

See, he's done set the tone in the wrong way.  Those dudes have millions at holidays. ..they'd be just fine dining with caviar after termination

Some of the new coaching candidates may also be reluctant to work for an organization that lets go of coaches mid season.

But watch the coaches that lineup to want to be there.

But that’s the Dallas Cowboys. America’s team...

that being said, we probably romanticize these coaching selections more than they probably really are. Coaches work their entire lives to get one of those offers and only a handful of them have the luxury of being selective when they’re offered.

(I would rather work for Blank than Jerry though)

No!! America's team is now the New England Patriots. Watch the flags and calls the refs give.  That let you know.

That’s what happens when you win I guess. Maybe one day we’ll know.

Well, it's not just the winning tho. Kraft made a deal with the devil, cause they was winning with Parcells and Bledsoe too. But they wasnt getting these kind of calls to help bail them out back then.

They were winning but they weren’t winning titles every other year.

70s Steelers, 80s 49ers, 90s Cowboys, 2000s Patriots get what they want due to multiple chips.

I do think early on Blank made some poor decisions. Firing Dan Reeves was a mistake. Mike Vick would have never gone down the road he did if he would have had a strong head coach in Reeves and not a trendy young guy in Mora. Mike Smith was a good hire after the Petrino debacle. Smith was a solid coach who had his teams prepared to play. I don't think he lost back to back games until his last couple seasons. The problem with Smith was he could not win in the playoffs. Quinn is the opposite of Mike Smith. His teams are terribly inconsistent. He has lost many games in a row the last two seasons. The problem is Blank loves Quinn because he took the Falcons to the Super Bowl and Quinn represents the organization the way Blank wants. Smith was more of a football guy and less of a PR guy. Quinn is more of a PR guy than a football guy (relative to Smith). I would not be surprised if Blank keeps Quinn and fires Dimitrov and gets a new GM to work with Quinn.

The titles came when Kraft sold his soul. The Patriots were a respectable team when Parcells was there with Bledsoe, but they just couldnt get over that Championship hump. Then, BOOM!!!!! Parcells is fired, in walks Belichick,  Bledsoe gets injuried, Brady steps in, and the rest is history.
