What positions do you think we should draft next year?

Recommended Posts

We have 4 picks in the first 3 rounds if I'm not mistaken. Which positions do you think we should draft next year? Do you think we should try to trade up for Chase Young in the first? Do you think we should draft another offensive lineman/linemen? After all the better we protect Matt Ryan the longer his career will be.

If it was me I would probably draft a pass rusher in round 1 (I wouldn't trade up for young) another pass rusher in 2 and a center to replace Mack possibly, a running back and some secondary help in 4-5. What do you guys think?

I swear if we spend any of our first few picks on offense I will riot.  This defense needs all the help it can get.

Edge

S

ILB

DB

I don't care what order, BPA of those positions.

Agreed. As much as I don't want corner in the top ten, if it's BPA take it. We need defensive playmakers. Period. Have needed that for a decade plus.

They do, but I'd go after a vet in fa.  What sucks is they have so much money tied up in Carpenter and Brown...dunno wtf TD was thinking with that...

What frustrated me was a lot of us banged the table for Quinton Spain, which made sense since his best year was under Mularky. He signed for 1yr $2MM with BUF. But we wanted to make an outsized commitment to James Carpenter...

Just stupid honestly. I was fine with signing two OGs and doubling down with Lindstrom/McGary, but at least get the right guys.

Correct.  The approach I am ok with, we needed depth badly.  The money was stupid money for guys of their caliber.

Pressure from Blank to make sure Ryan would be protected no matter how many OL went down with injuries? Yes, the contracts were way over the top for both players who could never have been projected to be more than stop-gap, fill-in level. Just absurd.

I swear I think he just threw some money at the the 1st couple of names he recognized to get Uncle Artie off his back about getting linemen.

Yeah you have a point. Boy are there a lot of holes on this team.

Not as many as you may think...... we just need to identify what are the biggest holes that have the biggest impact and make sure those are filled.

Like for example in the defense that we currently run now to me the biggest hole that we have is the safety spot.

Really good safety play can and will cover up a lot of holes on your defense.

That is what made the Seattle defense so good for so long...... that and holding every play and not getting called for it.

Center is another position that really has an impact on the guys around him.... we saw firsthand impact that Mack made when he first got here... he helped cover up the offensive line holes because he was so good..... now that his play has declined the holes around him are not being covered up quite as much.

Here's the thing with that though....... there is no guarantee that his level play would be the same level here as it has been there.
