marvinthemartian
As a long term (since 1966) Falcons fan I have seen all the ups and downs of this franchise. For the first time ever, I am going to commit to the following. No matter who the Falcons bring in for Head Coach and GM, I resolve to not buy into the hype but adopt a wait and see, trust but verify attitude until we see the actual fruits of their labor. I will support the team and the new regime. However, talk is cheap. Show me by your works. And unfortunately, that takes a little time. A fancy rah rah speech at the podium when he is being introduced isn’t gonna do it this time. I would suggest we all adopt a similar mindset if for no other reason but to help us keep our sanity:) Chitown2ATL_Falcon, thanat0s, papachaz and 2 others

John Fox, Rex Ryan, Dan Quinn, Jim Tomsula, Jack Del Rio, Todd Bowles were the coaches hired in 15, most here wanted Rex Ryan. Quinn has been the most successful of the six hired that year and it isn't close. Playoff Record Dan Quinn: 3-2 Other 5: 0-
TheUsualStuff
I adopted this philosophy in 1983. Glad to have you on board.

Quinn has only been most successful on the backs of those on the offensive side of the ball. A coach is generally only as successful as his quarterback. Their records are intertwined. I would love to know about that time Quinn coached the offense, and conversely about that time Quinn gave us that feared Seattle defense he was supposed to bring. Quinn was the hot name at that time because of Seattle's dominant D and back to back Super Bowls. I'm not defending him or that he shouldn't go, but I do think he was the best available to hire. Compared to the rest of that class DQ has been pretty good Rings
SirCzah
Being a lifetime Falcons has made me into a career skeptic. When it is all said and done I will even remain skeptical of my own passing until they start shoveling the dirt.

Josh McDaniel... Period.. No doubt in my mind, if we had hired him we would have a SB trophy by now... and I dont want to hear about his time in Denver 10 years ago.. he was young and immature. He could have done wonders with a MR and JJ in their prime.. Our biggest asset was our Offense.. We had a chance to make it greater, and only needed a mediocre defense to sustain us...but instead..like in the past.. AB went with the hot hand with the hot team.. Passed on Wade, hired Mora, fired Smitty instead of Dimi, hired Quitrino, signed up for three or four lifetime contracts and here we are 18 years later, sittin at 3-8, with no cap space next year and 25 players on the roster. His soccer team is trending down too. Taj Mahal empty by halftime. State Line.

thanat0s
I was already there with Quinn’s hiring. Like you, I’m a long timer. If this franchise has taught me anything, it’s to look on everything they do with some amount of skepticism. BUBBASBEANS

You see, you have stated exactly what this team deserves from it’s consumers, exactly what the org has “earned” from a Corp perspective. Until these clowns realize that this isn’t WWF and their is zero entertainment value in losing consistently w grace, dignity, grittiness or whatever other BS they feed us, that no one is home and all the PSLs and their glamorous stadium can rot then we will get exactly what we’ve gotten since ‘66. And every talking head on a broadcast will malign us as “not being a sports town”. I say let them spend their $ in this **** show until we’re all good and ready based upon results. octoslash
So, y'all are saying that fans are stupid for being optimistic? That basically destroys the notion of even being a sports fan in the first place.
