Hooper to miss a month

No, I’ve always wanted to keep Hooper if possible.  I just wasn’t sure we could manage it.  But we should be able to.  It’s the non-QB’s making 16 million per year where I begin to have questions.  A team can have 2-3 guys in that range, not 5-6

Despite the totally false narrative on Hooper prior to this season that his hands were suspect, he's actually been amongst the most sure-handed TEs in the NFL. He's worked hard & made huge improvements each year, and definitely needs to be kept in Atlanta.

Two years ago everyone wanted him gone. Now TAFT loves him.

:tiphat: Some people make that hard to believe!

He dropped like two passes in 2017 and everybody lost their mind pretty much.

However, he has definitely improved.

Archer was raving about him on the radio yesterday. He says Austin is maybe just an adequate blocker but is getting to that Tony G level of chemistry with Matt and understanding of coverages, being on the same page.

Look at that red zone TD! Body and hand usage is perfect!

No sir. Not everyone. Full support since draft day. I refuse to be like these back and forth *** people who go back and forth week to week. Gotta have a stance and stick with it. Take the L when warranted. Quickzero can confirm :)

Saying you would have done something if not for injury and actually putting up the stats are different when it comes to contracts.

With 1,200 yards, 12 TD’s and 84% catch rate, he would potentially reset the TE market....especially if voted All Pro & back to back Pro Bowls

Hey I remember when I said this and got flamed for it. Ppl acted like he’d play here for less money or something. Probably cuz we win so many Super Bowls all the time...

that ************** is getting PAID this offseason. And rightfully so. Huge skill set that’s continuously improving and he’s gonna be 25 NEXT year. Other teams have lots of cap to throw lots of money at TE’s. We don’t know anything ab cap space round these parts cuz we like to make players “falcons for life” every other year. I wish him a speedy recovery and nothing but the best.

@ya_boi_j I thought Austin had potential but was never against him myself. I’m not usually against a player actually as I am more than fair and try to focus on the positive.

:ninja: Sometimes the Dukes of the world take your soul though

I'm kinda opposite, for me first rounders and big money free agents are free game.

Outside of the first round, I pick the players who aren't getting love and root for them til the end. I know a lot of you guys are "they play for the team so i'm going to root" regardless but I don't believe in that because I feel that's forced support. You're going to like who you like more in the end. Just the nature of it. Problem is everyone can't accept that and overblows ****

Hooper won’t break the bank. And, we didn’t reset the market with Debo or Grady. We used old contract comps.

Now, if someone signs him for $13M+ and we haven’t franchised him.,,

Thanks for the 3rd round comp.

More likely we franchise him and trade him than to outright let him walk.

Hoop is definitely better than I thought he’d be. Never disliked him though. He’s ended up being a great draft pick. Still think some fans overrate him a tad is all

He's better than any of us thought he would be.  Anyone who says they thought he was this good is telling stories.  (Unless they are his mom or dad.)

Truth. That TD catch reminded me so much of Gonzales in his prime.

Some of us have been thinking & saying this for a while. This is my reply to a post from Feb. of 2018:

"I get the point you are trying to make, but I feel like you are leaving out an incredibly important part of it... all those dudes you mention are the primary targets in the passing game for their teams. They put up huge numbers due to volume.

If you take Hooper’s numbers and prorate them out to match the targets those guys get, guess what??? He’s also in the 900-1100 yards & 6-10 TD club.

Hooper is fine.

Your issue is with volume of targets, but as long as Julio & Sanu are here, that’s not likely to change. Only so many targets per game to go around, ya know?"

At the point of your post in 2018, he had just completed a 49 catch season, which isn't bad for a TE. At that point, most people thought he had a pretty good upside. When we drafted him, NOBODY thought he would be this good.
