To put it into perspective, Kelce has never had 1,200 yards or 12 TD’s or 84% catch rate...

And Hooper is on pace for 100 catches. Seriously, he may not look like it, but he's a top tier TE. And the youngest one putting up these kind of numbers. Kelce is my undisputed #1 TE. Kittle is fighting for #2 with Hooper. But those are your top three TEs in my opinion. He just doesn't get the fan fare the other guys do because... Atlanta.

You’d actually be surprised. I saw several fans of different teams throughout the league on twitter and Facebook groups that made a huge fuss about Grady this past offseason. That was very rare considering Grady wasn’t a true household name. Hooper’s going to get that same treatment due to him being talked about for pro bowl voting. Had he not gotten injured he’d definitely be talked about league wide(fan wise that is) by the end of the season.

Yep. Grady "wasn't a double digit sack guy" yet is back on pace for 10 sacks. It's about future production, not past performance. A 24 year old TE who is pacing the league in production. Yes please. Grady was a 25 year old DT who showed glimpses of excellence. Yes please. I'm all for paying sub 26 year old players big money on 4-5 year deals.

I’ve been a Hoop supporter from day 1, even when folks were saying an athletic TE was needed. I even won a avatar bet with quickzero 2 seasons ago when he was confident Hoop wouldn’t be the starter. Love me some Hoop.

I doubt there's ever been any Tight End with those numbers, the catch rate alone is probably the best ever by a Tight End with any sort of volume.

Hooper was over 80% catch rate last season, too.

In 2017 he was 75.4% and there was only one TE in the entire NFL that year who had a higher catch rate on as many targets as Hooper.

His catch rate as a rookie was 70.4%... meaning he's been at 70% or better all four years he's played thus far.

For perspective on how clutch Hooper is at a target for Matt Ryan:

  • In Tony Gonzalez's entire 17 year HOF career, he only had a catch rate above 70% three times (w/ a best of 75%)
  • Travis Kelce has played 7 seasons so far & only been above 70% twice (best: 77%)
  • Antonio Gates played 16 years & only went above 70% four times (best: 76.9%)
  • Gronk played nine seasons (so far?) & only went over 70% twice (best: 72.6%)

And Hooper won’t even cost 10 mill APY.  I think 9 APY gets him secured.  It’s what Freeman makes...and who had more value?

The only comp on catch rate is Michael Thomas.  And his is simply other worldly at 84% this year and 80% for his career

Arch comments starting at 15:30 into this section of the show today (usually they snip just Archer’s interview):

20:30 in to hear Comments on losing Hooper specifically; calls his blocking adequate rather than good, but Graham being not adequate as a blocker and can’t block anybody.

Says Hooper has gotten to being in the realm of Tony G with Ryan; regarding his understanding of coverages/zones and being on same page with Matt...all that work they have put in until now even in offseason. More than just Graham needs to step up. Gage and others.
