If Smitty was the only alternative I'd take him back in a heartbeat. At least he tried 100%.

Smitty is without a doubt the best head coach our team has ever had.

The only consistent thing with our OL and DL pass rushing woes have been having TD as GM. We've had multiple head coaches and position coaches yet these issues still persist for over a decade. TD is the common factor he gets the blame, he also hired the head coaches anyway so he also gets the blame.

Who drafted Grady Jarrett?

Again, consensus around the league (as well in TAFT) was that Beasley and Takk were NFL caliber talents. To put that on the GM is silly.

Yeah the irony is Smith was legitimately going for a bull rushing pocket collapsing front with players not known for pass rushing like Tyson Jackson. Quinn has a bunch of one dimensional speed rushers who are supposed to only be good at getting sacks.

The guys like Tyson Jackson were supposed to be NT in 3-4 Mike Nolan was trying to install. Too bad, TD couldn’t draft an LBs worth to run 3-4. Smitty was left with NT in the middle with no pass rushers and LB like Bartu and Worrilow. This team is way more talented than the 2014 Defense which was full of busts. I forgot, TDs fav pick Goodman who was supposed to be the best 3-4 DE with Long arms.

It's hard to even know who to point the finger at given we don't really know how drafting/scouting responsibilities are divided up among the staff. But missing on Takk and Vic were so, so detrimental to this franchise. We needed them to be good enough to trade for more draft capital at least, but they're shaping up to be wasted picks.

It was a risky move, Losing Brittle spoon and Moore blew everything up.

At least Smitty’s team was still fighting on his way out. 5-1 division record that season tells the tale. That team at least went down shooting.

Smittys teams were soft and often out of games immediately. Not the mention the egg laid by them when they had a chance to win the division against the Panthers, AT HOME.

Soft and weak and light is a hallmark of a TD roster.
