Five Most Fireable Coaches in the NFL

Recommended Posts

2. Dan Quinn, Falcons

The Falcons have had a former NFL MVP at quarterback for most of the season, one of the league’s most powerful 1-2 combinations at wideout between Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley, and a defense built around stars like Deion Jones, Grady Jarrett, and Vic Beasley. And yet Atlanta has exactly as many wins (one) as a Dolphins team that long ago decided victory wasn’t in its best interest in 2019.

Quinn has a few weeks to show signs of life, lest his legacy as the Falcons’ head coach be defined by 28-3. His team may be this season’s biggest disappointment; Atlanta was favored to finish its season with nine wins or more back in August and is currently on pace for ... two. The fifth-year coach’s response to this slow start and the loss of Matt Ryan (temporary due to an ankle injury) and Mohamed Sanu (permanently, due to a trade with the Patriots) was to shuffle up his coaching staff without firing or hiring anyone.

That’s effectively rearranging furniture in one of those mock-up homes the U.S. Army built on their old nuclear testing grounds. Five of Atlanta’s final eight games are against teams with winning records, which suggests the Falcons could at least get a top-three draft pick from a season set to end with a coaching search.

Agreed. I didn't think for one second we would suck.  I thought 11 and 5.

Seriously.  We had everyone coming back from injury, the anti-Sark folks got their wish with him going, Quinn was gonna personally fix Vic and this defense and man...talk about missing the mark in horrendous fashion.

I saw last night our special teams were ranked dead last as well.  Literally nothing working right this season.

My guess is that if passing yards weren't so plentiful the run defense wouldn't look that good either.

Why run when you can get 12-15 yards guaranteed on 95% of your pass plays

I would love to see how they ranked ST...becuase it has been pretty **** good lately....minus the missed kicks ofcourse.

https://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/teamst/2019

This page lists an estimate of how many points, compared to league average, each team receives from the five elements of special teams: field goals/extra points, kickoffs, kick returns, punts, punt returns. The total is then converted into a DVOA percentage so that it can be added in to offense and defense to create total team DVOA.

His legacy as a football coach is already defined by 28-3. There is no "lest" here.

He is never going to overcome that. I don't relish saying it, but it's a fact. He will never do anything to overcome what happened that day.

Was thinking the same thing.  That will forever be his legacy.

More of what we already know, but just seeing his name with the dumpster fire of coaches around the league just makes me think "How the heck did we get here???"

The fact that we have as many wins as a team already focused on the offseason is amazing.

So much can happen when you embrace the suck as hard as our guys have!CDC49103-F574-43BA-89A1-3177874179E4.jpeg.27d859fcb0709bb72cadab6e0f022dff.jpeg

Our Brothers were Brothering out there, but we didn't get the result we would have wanted in the battle we expected.  We just have to keep battling alongside our Brothers while we lift some Brotherhood logs and crush it in practice, Brother!

the better rankings on each side of the ball are only due to the fact we have Julio and Ryan, and Grady and Deion even if he's playing below par. The coaches have no positive effect...actually only negative...it's really bad

I knew we were gonna suck. How??? Because of Quinn's double down on Beasley, getting rid of Alford for an unproven sophomore CB, bringing in Koetter who didnt do isht the last time he was here, this idiotic look>>865185182.0.jpghim hiring a time manager because he didnt know how to do it, etc....

Everything pointed to this,  but the rose colored glass wearers wanted to believe this fairy tale. Well, fairy tales only exist if you're down 28-3 in a SB and your name is New England Patroits.

I told people when we were at the Falcons vs Jets Pre-season game, it was going to be a long year. First drive our o-line got manhandled and then on defense the CBs were playing like 15 yards off their man and the Jets just went right down the field on us. The Jets. Saw this train wreack coming in Pre-Season.

I take no joy or celebration in saying that I predicted 5 wins tops.

  • Two rookie offensive linemen (although they haven't actually been THE problem)
  • Koetter as OC. I pointed out repeatedly that Matt Ryan was held back by Koetter's offense for years, and took a year of being unkoettered by Shanahan before flourishing.
  • I pointed out that Quinn inherited the defense in Seattle, and that it was really Pete Carrol's--- not Dan Quinn's nor Gus Bradley's.
  • I predicted no pass rush because Vic doesn't care, and Takk cares too much--- but about what?

So the signs were there. However, even I thought it unlikely that Quinn could screw us up this badly.

My doom & gloom predictions were mocked and mauled, yet they actually turned out to be wildly optimistic. I am convinced that the Falcons won't win a Superbowl until the year after I die.
