Sheffield

Sheffield was always in the right place in the preseason, too. Just didn't turn his head to play the ball.

Oliver has been out of position so many times but those are mental errors. He was in hip pockets vs the Cardinals, but gotta finish with his length on a couple of those bombs he gave up. (One was the questionable sideline catch and the other was the fumble that was not overturned into a fumble)

Sheffield went mostly vs Fitz. Give him meaningful snaps outside like Quinn is saying.

I like it.

Sheffield looked good considering it was his first start. I had my doubts but would like him to get as many snaps outside as possible. Oliver just has no instincts and I doubt anyone can fix him.

For zone maybe, but Oliver did better yesterday. He has been terrible in zone this year.

Wow.  So they’re cutting bait in the 2nd round pick after 6 starts?

Isnt that like giving up on Lindstrom because he got hurt?  A little short sighted?

I actually thought Oliver played decent. The two big receptions were unlucky. The first was good coverage and didn’t appear to be a catch. The second was more on Rico than him and he forced a fumble which didn’t get called for some reason. I like Oliver’s physicality and willingness in the running game.

Stupid if so. We have given Beasley how many chances?

Seeing how bad everyone is in our secondary, I am not ready to give up on Oliver.

Agree. I'm not giving up on Oliver but those growing pains...would've liked to see Sheffield earlier than Tru getting hurt.

I was thinking they should start Sheffield on the outside and swap Kazee and Rico.  Kazee is a ball hawk and I think having him play centerfielder may be a catalyst for our defense to create more turnovers to slow defenses down.  Oliver did play better but we need to give Sheffield more opportunities.

Kazee would have to make progress not blowing plays just the same as creating turnovers; otherwise its giving up points to make some turnovers. Same thing happened when Rico went down.

Oliver needs to take Neal's Role for the remainder of the season.

I'd play foye at SS over Ishmael. He's quicker too, and has exp playing there in college. It's time to experimemt
