Matt Ryan / Philip Rivers

35 posts in this topic

Both will go down as the most unluckiest Q.Bs ever to play for their respective franchise.

One (falcons) who have failed over a decade to provide defensive help.

Other(chargers) have failed over a decade to provide an offensive line and reliable kicker.

PAST decade both teams have had major upset wins and ultimate choke moments year after year.

Both fan base absolutely suck and never have home field advantage when you attend home games.

How is it possible that both franchises have mirror choke tag on them inspite of having 2 FUTURE HOF Q.BS.

Nah, Marty has always been known as good but never good enough to get over the hump. He and Dan Reeves are the most unluckiest HCs in football history.

Andy Reid is Marty Jr.

Matt Ryan is for real the unluckiest QB in NFL history. Why can’t he have just one of Brady’s lucky plays?

Tuck rule

Vinateri bail out

Shanked FG’s

Good OL’s

Consistent, quality HC and OC

Good defenses

Dee Ford jumps offsides negating the game-ending INT

Team makes a bone headed decision at the 1 in the Super Bowl

Team completely implodes in the Super Bowl

Play in a really bad division

In the same moment, in big moments, Ryan’s teammates negate the big play with a dumb penalty, the ball hits off the WR’s hands and miraculously bounces right into the hands of the defender, the coaches just suck, or a kicker misses something. Can this guy just get one lucky break or something?

That all is pretty crazy. Life is more random than we give it credit for, but it definitely seems like the probabilities are skewed.

It took Ryan leading one of the best offenses in NFL history to make the Super Bowl. Meanwhile people like Brady, Big Ben, and Eli can find strange ways to make the Super Bowl and play very “meh” in the game, yet still win

It's called, "defense."  It's seemingly a four letter word to the Falcons brass.

Stop blaming fans when the team is a horrible product. People have enough worries in their lives and shouldn't have the burden of supporting a local sports team that always fails. Teams don't get loyal fan bases for simply existing.

It's not our fault these are bad teams.

you can say that but both the browns and bills have been terrible for years but they constantly have fans at the game bills mafia and the dog pound have supported their teams for years regardless how trash the team has been

And as we have seen in those examples fan support didn't help them win just like lack of huge loyal fan support doesn't cause teams to lose.

Bottom line is people got a lot going on these days, the world is stressful and people have much less disposable income and much less time for sports. Teams should not get huge loyal fanbases for simply existing.

Even if I gave atlanta city Patriots squad...it wouldnt make a **** difference.

Point I'm making is, Atlanta is not a town for professional sports barring soccer.

Most fan base is outside Atlanta city.

I think Miami, Oakland, and Cleveland have something to say about that.....just admit the Atl fan base is trash.  Most are completely clueless and run at the first sign of adversity.  Most fans can't do their job without a good job, but those same people expect other grown folks to perform without the proverbial good job

Fun fact that the Chargers had two Super Bowl winning QB's that they passed over for Rivers (Eli Manning, Drew Brees).

They actually drafted Eli and he never wanted to play for them, so SD and NYG did a draft day swap.

Imagine picking the 3rd worst QB between Eli, Rivers, and Brees just because of Manning bloodline.

Brees and Rivers are easily the better QBs. Giants won 2 SBs on their defense, but Manning at least showed up for plays on a silver platter while they shut down Brady.

I completely agree with this. They wildly overreacted to Kaeding missing that field goal attempt. But the real mistake was picking Rivers over Brees. I said at the time that picking the guy that everybody hates over the one that everyone loves would wreck them. That's exactly what happened.

The whole thing creates a fascinating bit of alternate football history. If Saban gets the medical clearance to sign Brees, who knows what happens in the NFL and the NCAA ever since then?
