While there have been a few exceptions, history says the season is likely over already.

Here's every time the Falcons have started a season 1-3 and their final record that year.

2019: ???
2018: 7-9
2013: 4-12
2007: 4-12
2003: 5-11
2002: 9-6-1 (won WC game, lost in Divisional round)
1992: 6-10
1989: 3-13
1988: 5-11
1987: 3-12
1978: 9-7 (won WC game, lost in Divisional round)
1976: 4-10
1974: 3-11
1973: 9-5
1968: 6-8

So, they've made the playoffs just 2 times out of 14 previous 1-3 starts. Needless to say, it doesn't look good right about now.

So 9 wins and booted out of the playoffs early, is about the best we can hope for? No thanks! Been there done that too many times. Tank and get the top pick.

I’ll take 9 wins and the playoffs all day.

So I’m guessing the ones that don’t want that would rather lay in a pit of misery.Screw that I’ll take playoffs all day.

The chances of improvement is not likely after a season like 9-7 and say..10-8 (after going 1-1 in the NFL Playoffs)

Only recent teams that did so were those Giamlnts teams that defeated those Patriot teams in Superbowls and The recent Seattle Seahawks.

What did they have in common?

Dominant defenses.

You know what 2003, 2007, and 2013 have in common? We either played the NFC West in an odd numbered year or faced the AFC South. We finished with a final record of 4-12 or 5-11 those seasons. Looks like that's where we're headed. This team is nothing like the 2002 team. The 2002 Falcons had to deal with a Bucs team who eventually won the Super Bowl, but, we were good enough to sweep the rest of our division, we went 4-0 vs the Panthers and Saints, and we were good vs the AFC North, we went 2-1-1 against that division, beating the Bengals and Ravens at home (something we also did in 2010, but failed to do in 2018), and we tied the Steelers in Pittsburgh. We only lost to the Browns late in the year. This year's Falcons team looks inferior to all of our division rivals, and we're still on an AFC losing skid going back to last season, plus, we've already lost an AFC home game by double digits. We lost to Kirk Cousins, who only beats teams with losing records (which will be our Falcons this year).

Besides this, I don't have the history right there to reference.  Really started paying attention to the Falcons when I was 10.  I don't recall many poor starts that ended in a playoff run.  That is not how we have been built and is not how we are currently built.  We are not mathematically eliminated.  I don't have faith this team has the fight/focus in them to make the playoffs.  I wish they would prove me wrong, but I don't think it's in them.
