Anyone Still wants to keep Oliver?

I thought Beasley had a pretty **** good game

There were 2 critical plays in space he took bad angles on and it either allowed a first or helped them convert a series of downs to keep drives going.

I forgot which lead to which after that. One was on the pass that Quinn didn’t challenge where the spot was.

Vic has to make those plays. I see him overplaying in space. It’s not the worst but definitely was bad enough when we needed to find a way to shut them down and get off the field. When you consider YAC on short passes killed us?

The tape never lies...

From PFF:

"Isaiah Oliver continues to improve. He enjoyed another memorable game against Indianapolis. Oliver made an impressive pass deflection against one red-zone throw, denying TY Hilton a likely touchdown. He also had excellent coverage on a couple of other plays, forcing Brissett to try to time back-shoulder throws that fell incomplete. Atlanta has excellent depth in the secondary, and they appear to have found a cornerstone opposite Desmond Trufant in the Colorado product. "

I can't beleive that I am about to say this but....I agree with PFF.

Now excuse me while I

He was not perfect but he had a sack and he was in the backfield several times.

The RAC is on the linebackers and safeties more than Vic IMO

Vic plays LB some unfortunately...

I believe he was lined upright on the 2 plays in question and had opportunities to make a play. He didn’t.

And Brissett picked us apart. Death by a thousand cuts. We didnt make him throw it far. Vic wasn’t terrible or anything that’s not what I’m trying to say tho...just a couple plays I remember that hurt us.

If it's not Alford, it's Oliver. We get rid of Oliver draft someone else then you find out they are worse than the last guy.

Falcons woes have a lot to do with the coaching.  Oliver was lost because he wasn't prepared to handle certain situations.  Indy had the Falcons fooled for the most part.

No they really didn't.

The falcons just did not tackle well and allowed them the get alot of yards after catch.

Really the only time indy fooled the defense was on the first TD....which was a nice play design.

The falcona had them stopped multiple times only for penalties to give the colts life.

Let me see... An inexperienced CORNER, with no pass rush in front of him. What did yall expect? This dline barely got a fingertip on Brissett today.

And people really want Ramsey? Have yall seen what he looks like lately? He's been terrible since Jags Dline tailed off. He'll only be in the same situation if he came here.

Anyone behind him? No, you say? Well, this will just another reason to fire Quinn. Oliver is really bad. Really bad.

I’m still behind him because not everyone develops at the same rate.

Robert Alford remember the DPI bug he had was at one stage thee most penalised CBs in the league.

Oliver at the moment is just a piece of an inconsistent puzzle.

You want facts? You CANT HANDLE THE FACTS!!!! Oliver is sucking like a porn star. That's facts. He's been beaten like whipped egg whites for a lemon pie, that's facts. He's given up the most yardage and TDs in this game. That's facts.

But that’s how you develop and get better by getting your butt handed too you.Its how you respond which is the key.Like I said in the above post the DPI King Alford got abused early with poor technique then came back and ended up pretty decent.

Not saying Oliver is going to be that guy or will crack it but he needs to be afforded that chance by the coaches and fans.

What frustrate me is we knew he was a bump and run corner..

Why are we sitting him back playing off and playing zone too.. that wasn't his thing coming out of college

Man this shot frustrating... The team has to much talent to be where we are

They did the samething with Alford aswell.

Yes, I want to keep him. But I wouldn’t mind him at FS or even strong safety the more I watch him. He’s a good tackler. I still like his length and I think he has pretty good range and I think coming downhill and keeping plays in front of him would suit him better.

Hes a bit stiff in his backpedal like he was in college. I know press corner makes sense too, but I think FS would suit him fine.

@Knight of God agree?

At first I thought maybe, but it’s hard to say. I think we’d both want an upgrade

I agree that an upgrade is preferable. I like Oliver’s length and range. Maybe an upgrade in athleticism at FS and even SS now would help him be a better press cb.

Well, Oliver is quickly heading that way with his DPI bug bitten self. Dont believe me, check the stats.

And like I said, Oliver is on that road to take over as King DPI, but without the benefits that Alford brought. What benefits, you say? Glad you asked. Speed, able to stay in the WRs hip pocket, ball awareness, sticky hands,  etc....

And for those that say, "We have time for him to grow in the position." Well, Arthur Blank says otherwise. Do I need to pull up that article from last month where he said he wants a Championship THIS season? Quinn dont have anymore time left. He used all his "Wolf tickets" and now his as is on the line. Shoulda kept Alford instead of going with an unproven CB. He knew he didnt have time for his #2 CB to learn on the fly.

IMO, on that play, it was the LB who should've picked up the reciever/TE coming out!

But, he didn't do it and Oliver saw that and then picked him up at the last second!

It was actually a good play by Oliver to see the LB was not doing his job!

I think you have to stick with him.  I think they went to him really early.  He didn't show in 1 year that he was ready to start.  Hopefully he gets better.  Right now, he looks like one of those guys that's going to always be a step slow and be a PI nightmare.

I guess I’m in the minority. I thought he has shown a good bit of improvement. I’d certainly stick with him. The kid needs time to learn.

Dont have time to learn. Quinn will be fired if he dont bring a Championship by this year. Blank already stated he wants one THIS year.

You know what they say about ‘want’? I wish it was that easy, but this doesn’t look like the year. It’s still early though and we are not out of it. Worst case, keep playing the kid and let him learn for next year.
