When Your Edge Compliments The Interior

It was refreshing to finally see our boys on the edge compliment the good work being done on the interior.  When those two things happen, you see results like last night.

Over the last 3 years, our defense is responsible for 2 of the Eagles five worst offensive performances (yards allowed).  While we may not match up well with the Eagles, they certainly don’t match up well with us.

Time to run off wins in 7 of the next 8

I'm still shocked the Eagles didn't try to run on our edges last night. Constantly saw them try to line up and run between the tackles.

They came out 3 Wide and often. Takk and Vic made them pay with good pressure all night.

Agreed.  It wasn’t a good offensive gameplan by the Eagles

Except...for whatever reason, they put Takk back in coverage and he gave up that big pass.  That was weird.

When you run a 3-4/5-2 look you gonna have Takk or Vic in coverage occasionally. Even the Eagles dropped Cox into coverage once and he almost got a Pick.

Gives the QB another thing to worry about

Yeah, but Takk wasnt very good at it and Wentz didn't seem so worried.

They didn't drop Cox in coverage on that almost pick. He read the play abandoned the rush and dropped. That’s what makes him elite, football instincts and preparation.

Eh, okay I'm not informed that he did it by design or not.

When Eagles blitz all out, it's not unheard of for DLs to drop into a zone that the blitzer comes from. I'd have to see the replay.

Don't remember when I've seen the front 7 look better against a good offensive team than they did last night. There was finally a good dose of physical to go with the fast.

The DL played excellent football and the over all defensive performance was several orders of magnitude better than last week. I think it's fair to assume next week will be even better and improvement will continue all the way to the SB.

Beasley did the exact same thing and shutdown a screen so hard. Takk killed Wentz cuz of that. People hating on Vic didn't watch the game

They have been pushing us around between the tackles last three times they won... probably didn’t see how much we focused on fixing that.

We did run a couple of blitzes off the edge. While Takk and Vic did perform, DQ made sure we didn't get killed on the edges by bringing pressure from the sides.

So on a sack, do you get credited for both a hit and sack?

No.

iirc, hurry is basically moving the qb off his mark and forcing a throw, hit can be any form of contact on the qb, knockdown and sack are self explanatory, and there can only be 1 tally per play.

So if you think of it like comparing to baseball...

Hurry - Single

Hit - Double

Knockdown - Triple

Sack - Home Run

When a guy hits a home run, he isn't credited for a single, double, triple and a home run, just the home run.
