Posted September 9 This is exactly why we signed the veteran OL this offseason. We were not going to have an injury; see Levitre or Fusco, derail our entire interior OL. Sad to see, but glad he has a shot to come back. Brown likely moves back to his usually RG spot. Posted September 9 Well looks like our bad OL from yesterday will be even worse now. Injury bug isn't escaping us this year either.
Posted September 9 It's essentially a lost season for him now. Brown and Carpenter the rest of the way, I suppose.

That said, he is young, and they may be conservative. If it is indeed 8, and he can come back right there, it would put him back for our critical stretch of 5 weeks against divisional opponents in November. Next man up. falconsd56, Schwarzwald, JDaveG and 1 other like this
Posted September 9 Weird - it was strange the Falcons picked up 2 high-priced FA guards and then drafted one. Now, we lose the drafted one but have one of the FA's around to "hopefully" take his place (assuming Schweitzer is not put in). It almost seems like the team knew this injury was coming? Not necessarily as 8 weeks is more the max for a 5-9 week recovery on most foot breaks. Often they don't fully heal until the offseason; depending on the break. It's good news if he doesn't need surgery. Falcon Blitz, JDaveG, falconsd56 and 1 other like this

Posted September 9 I feel like players these days are weaker than players of the old era. I know it's not true but dang every week someone is going down.
Posted September 9 Well I am glad it's only an 8 week injury. Also glad we have depth at that position. My main concern is Matthews' play, or lack off. Schwarzwald likes this

Posted September 9 Also, to keep him on IR, he has to stay there for 8 weeks according to rules in order for us to replace him on the roster with somebody else.

Posted September 9 It is what it is. At least we spent some money on some FA OGs this offseason. Tim Mazetti likes this
Posted September 9 I hate this also because rookies need to take their lumps and he will miss another 6 weeks of lumps.

They didn't, but they were preparing to have depth at o-line in case it happened. Iinjuries happen all the time in football lol. We can't have depth at every single position, but the front office made **** sure we had at least good depth at o-line because they have 100s of millions of dollars tied up at QB and WR. Some people acted like it made no sense at the time, but it made plenty of sense to me and a lot of posters, and now we can see why.
