Restructures created 9.5 million in CAP for Julio Extension:

35 posts in this topic

Does anyone know how CBS came up with these numbers?

Falcons reportedly restructure two contracts, which would create cap space for a potential Julio Jones extension

The Atlanta Falcons don't have a new deal for Julio Jones done yet, but are showing signs of reaching a conclusion. Atlanta found a way to create more cap space for a potential Jones extension, restructuring the contracts of Jake Matthews and Ricardo Allenper NFL Network. The conversion of Allen and Matthews's base salary into a bonus create $5 million in salary cap space for the Falcons, leaving them with a projected $9.5 million in cap space to get a Jones deal done.

The nfl pa salary cap had us at 4.5 mil after the cuts to get to 53 man roster (plus the PS).... Add the 5 mil in restructure.... 9.5 mil

Is that with Bryant?

Falcons had almost $4 million in cap space before the Bryant signing. Maybe they didn't account his money

Shows we are $900,000 over the CAP currently on OTC

That's not accurate. Spotrac is showing the restructures of Allen and Matthews.

So how are the cap sites off like they are.

NFL PA seems like the closest to me well you’d think so.

I'm thinking that's the 2 PS guys we recently added.....not sure tho

OR, maybe Keith Smith? Could be Bryant as well. That would make sense, too. If it were them instead of PS guys.

I think we are around $5M.

Because none of them actually know all of the contract details. They're a rough estimate. NFL PA is the true one I believe.

OTC is one of the worst cap websites around

Going to disagree on that. He doesn't update until he gets accurate figures, so he may be a little behind, but I've found OTC to be the most accurate over time.

They get pretty accurate but they rely on insiders. They dont get 100% accurate numbers. Otherwise both sites wouldn't say different things even after both being updated.

It's also where Spotrac has gotten a lot of their data...
