Is there any chance there is some blowback here for him heading out of state?

Anything is possible but I think this about something else..

Chad Simmons had an update yesterday about instate DL. Says he is hearing Burroughs is likely to flip to Bama. He's also hearing that we are still recruiting Zykeivous Walker hard. He expects both Walker and Nazir Stackhouse to be in this class.

The deal on Burroughs though is it's just very unlikely he qualifies and that would be the case at UGA or Bama. I think our staff really likes him and he comes from a very pro UGA family from what I have heard for a long time. But I think the issue is making the grades and he just hasn't done that. Has a lot of work to do, to include summer school. He may be destined for JUCO and end up in Athens in a couple years if he handles his business.

Have heard Stackhouse also has some grade concerns but it doesn't seem to be as much of a concern.

Not really recruiting related, but those who have followed recruiting may remember QB Davis Mills from the same 2017 class year we signed Jake Fromm. We were down to literally choosing between Mills or Fromm, both wanted to be Dawgs. We gave Fromm the nod and within a matter of days I believe Mills publicly committed to Stanford, so he definitely did well for himself on that one. Tua was in the same class. Mills was rated higher than both.

Anyway, Mills will be starting for Stanford against USC this Saturday night. There has been a lot of buzz about him around the program. I'm excited to see how he does.

Burroughs is gone.

Been expected for a while. That will just turn into a spot for one of Dexter or Burch.

Yep. We are keeping it warm so to speak. Staff reportedly loves him, he’s a super talented player. Just hasn’t taken care of his business in the classroom so we have to prioritize other players. He may be a name to look out for in a couple years coming out of JUCO.

Chad Simmons is reporting that Arik Gilbert has set up a couple more OVs.

He will be visiting Texas A&M the weekend of September 21st, which is UGA’s big big recruiting weekend for the Notre Dame game. A&M is hosting Auburn that weekend.

Georgia will instead be hosting Gilbert the weekend of October 19th, when we play Kentucky.

Gilbert has visited Bama already. With Texas A&M and UGA securing OVs and Clemson looking solid to set a date as well, Gilbert’s final OV could come down to a few schools. Tennessee, LSU and USC figure to be pushing for that slot but it’s uncertain at this point. Clemson appears to be the school gaining momentum on Gilbert’s recruitment.

Sadly Clemson can afford to tell him he can play any crazy position he wants. He'll realize on his own how competitive WR is, and he'll grow tired of not seeing the field.

Gross.

Yeah, Gilbert’s not going to TennRC.  Adding ATM to OV list and Clemson gaining momentum tells you this.

If Clemson and Bama are his leaders those teams aren’t recruiting him as a receiver either.

SoFL has mentioned numerous times over the last few months about being fed up with Stackhouse's antics and continued flirtations with other schools, even after agreeing to "shut things down."

Something to file away, perhaps? --> Georgia commit Nazir Stackhouse will be attending a college football game in his home state tomorrow.

It will be South Florida at Georgia Tech.

...and that train is never late. The flirtation is non stop. But “he’s done”.

Bama fans on the Rant are now saying  "Bama is no longer pursuing Zach Evans"  - and we cannot afford a lockerroom cancer.  LMAO - that is a nice way to bow out of a recruitment you were losing.  The old "we didn't want him anyway" schtick.
