jdawg4876 7,234
I'm not sure where people think we don't have extra Edge rushers bc before coming to the Falcons both Jack Crawford and Adrian Clayborn were pure Edge rushers for their respective teams they only moved to the inside when they came to the Falcons FalconsZone7

Road Warrior 638
The only head scratcher to me is keeping Schaub and risking losing two young QBs that show a little promise. We all know if Ryan goes down then we are screwed, so I really don't see the value in keeping Schaub. He's experienced and may be helpful in the film room but on the field I don't see the young guys playing any worse.. honestly I think they'd play better. Seems like they really are hoping their are no injuries but only having Beasley Takk and Clay who can play thos edge position we having going with the 3-4 5-2 hybrid we have going on here. Losing 1 player can be extremely thin I think they may have Cominsky,Crawford & Bailey in mind in a pinch can come in and do a job. I think that’s the big part of who does what is the versatility all over the roster. Theyll have a dedicated starting group this allows the tweeners to be able to cover certain spots in a pinch. gazoo 21,331
With the exception of CB, this is the deepest, most talented roster I can recall going into a season. Both offensive and defensive lines are stacked with backups that can play at a higher level than what we’ve had in previous years should we lose a starter at some point. i thought S Cooper was looking good but he may have lost out in a numbers game. Dungeon Family 166
Looks good except I didn’t expect Ortiz to make the cut. I’m really hoping that Larkin and TBJ clear waivers and make it to our PS. I would have been ok with releasing Ortiz and Hill and keeping these two instead. I still hope we aren’t done and we claim another pass rushing DE and/or SS off waivers. FalconsZone7 and gazoo

There is literally nobody on here who has banged the table harder for the Falcons to find Schaub's replacement than I have. That said... Schaub is our best option of the guys we have had on the roster this offseason. Benkert looked like he was ready to give him a run for his money, but got hurt. He's already been placed on IR so we don't risk losing him at all. As for Etling, he's not that good. Look, I get that he did a serviceable (but far from stellar) job against some bottom of the barrel guys on the Jags. But people are placing waaaaaaay too much on that one performance when the reality is that it's just not enough. He was bad against the Skins & there's a reason the Pats tried to convert him to WR and then they cut ties all together. Yeah, I wouldn't have carried the FB and wouldn't have carried a specialist when we don't really get yardage out of punt returns anyway. Especially since we kept Hardy...he can at least sure handedly catch it. Would have kept Hardy and let him handle punts until Oz or Blake (or someone) had gotten more used to returns. That would have enabled an extra DL, and WR or LB as you say.
KRUNKuno 9,378
Zaccheaus over Blake...I can take that Ortiz even on the roster is dumb No love for Tony Brooks-James...he’s the type of player you have to find a way to give a chance. I just don't like having people late on the depth chart who are only going to play special teams. That's the place for young developing players who can play special teams in the meantime. I know Oz and Marcus didn't make it easy by flubbing everything. egoprime II

One of the 4 backs will almost certainly be inactive on gameday so that will be interesting to watch. Edited August 31, 2019 by Monolith2001 Ergo Proxy
