gazoo Posted August 25, 2019 Share Posted August 25, 2019 I’ve been so impressed with the play of our DL, I totally forgot about how I planned on watching Oliver closely to see how he was going to hold up as a starter at CB. And it just occurred to me, I haven’t even heard his name mentioned or seen much of anything out of him, which is exactly what I was hoping would be the case at this point in preseason. I need to go back and watch some snaps, but the fact he’s been so quiet must mean the ball isn’t being thrown to his side with a lot of success so far. Has anyone been keying in on his play? So, they blamed him for Sheffield getting beat a couple times by the Dolphins Preston Williams. Otherwise, only boundary CB getting picked on this preseason has been Ryan Neal afaik. Yeah i wasnt complaing.coverage has been solid.sam threw a nice pass wr made a great adjustment on it.Oliver can only improve with experience. Monolith2001 Posted August 25, 2019 Share Posted August 25, 2019 I am an Oliver fan but I'm not super confident in him. Trufant can be up and down but has looked mostly good this preseason. Oliver has not been "bad" but he has not been "good" either. My issues with Oliver have been the same since last season...physicality. In fact what shocked me so much about Tru's play wasn't just good technique, but it was hustle and physicality that I have not seen from him a lot. Oliver needs that. (Stiff arm was in running game and a good play by the RB) To be completely honest with everyone, the only play that concerns me going into season is the PI. Not because it happened once, just want to make sure it doesn’t become a habit. The secondary was my biggest question mark of the defense coming into the preseason (I felt really good about our DL) . My question mark with Oliver wasnt talent.....he has that, simply was hoping he could handle the starting role. Looks like he’s going to be fine. He’s a better fit than Alford for DQs defense. Picked up a PI penalty in Game 1. Racked up one tackle and one assist on the two longest plays allowed in Game 2. Didn't do jack in Game 3. Aint jammin worth a dam and still suffering from the Crisp Houston no neck syndrome. His 4.5 speed is very apparent. Pretty much a continuation of his rookie season. Made one play back then and yall boys still got your necks wrapped around his scrotum. And now you've gone and put the Gazoo Jinx on him. You got the Midas touch bro. Everything you touch turns into a muffler. I think he's primed for an as beatin. You, Fat, YoBoi and Troff think he's the answer to our 2019 RCB position. OK. Got it.
