While the starting pitching failed to get past the 6th inning in two of the three starts, they were by-and-large excellent against arguably the AL's best lineup. Up next is a 4-game set with the struggling Marlins, which will see Atlanta will miss RHP Jordan Yamamoto, who shut down the Braves over 6 scoreless innings on July 5th. Despite a brief hot streak that saw the Marlins win 5 out of 6 games, the second half has not been kind to Miami, as they have complied a 9-16 record since the break, including a current 6-game losing streak. Offense in general has been the issue for this Marlins club, as they have slashed .228/.281/.385 as a team since July 14. Recently-promoted OF Lewis Brinson has been handed the reigns in CF, with hopes that he will build off the strong AAA numbers he put up (.270/.861 with 16 HR and 16 SB), while 3B/OF Brian Anderson has shaken off the early-season cobwebs and has been the best hitter on the club since June (.263/.342/.551). That's a lot shorter recovery time than ACL and a complete tear, so that's good news. He would obviously miss the rest of this season but should be good to go come spring training if that is indeed all it is.

He’s been a mostly below-average hitter since his All-Star campaign in ‘15. Has posted an OPS+ below 100 (considered average) 3 out of the last 4 years (88, 102, 79, 69). Panick is a career .271/.334/.383 (.717) hitter and since the start of 2016 has hit only .256/.322/.369 (.691). That is after hitting .309/.364/.419 (.783) his first two years in the majors. Basically what happened is pitchers figured him out and he's never been able to make the necessary adjustments to counter.
