Match-up Notes

Atlanta Braves 60-43 (1st in NL EAST; 5.5 UP) -- Record vs. Opponent: 4-5

 Offensive Ranking (NL) .262 AVG (3), .337 OBP (2), .456 SLG (2), 163 HR (4), 366 XBH (5), 566 Runs (3)

Washington Nationals 56-49 (2nd in NL EAST; 5.5 GB) -- Record vs. Opponent: 5-4

There wasn't much movement in the NL East standings after this weekend, as the Braves gained a net of +1 games after besting the Phillies in 2 out of 3 games, while the Nationals dropped 2 out of 3 to the Dodgers. Washington's bullpen woes continued to manifest itself, as they gave up 5 runs in the first two games of the Dodgers' series (a 6th run was inherited from Saturday's starter, Joe Ross), while the Braves had a great bounce back after the disappointing sweep to Kansas City.

The season series to date sees the Nationals up 5-4, but Atlanta has won four of the last seven. With the trade deadline looming and this being the last series between the two clubs until September, to say this is a huge 3-game set  would be an understatement. With the Braves missing both Scherzer (most likely) and Strasburg this time around, the door is open to push the division lead even further and solidify their stake to a consecutive NL East title.

WHO'S HOT

Julio Teheran 0-1, 1.14 ERA, 0.89 WHIP in four July starts

Anthony Rendon .377 AVG, 1.093 OPS, 10 XBH, 14 RBI, 11/8 BB/K since the All-Star Break

WHO'S NOT

Johan Camargo .156 AVG, 2 XBH, 1 RBI, .438 OPS, 0/7 BB/K in 32 At-Bats for the month of July

Fernando Rodney 0-2, 5.06 ERA, 2.06 WHIP in 5.1 IP since the All-Star Break

INJURY NOTES

Jacob Webb was sent out on a rehab assignment today (7/29) to the GCL Braves

Dansby Swanson eligible to be activated on Saturday, August 3rd

Stealing this from k26's twitter post:

Ynoa is now the listed starter for the Stripers' tonight, despite it being Folty's turn in the rotation.

Folty to Cleveland for Bauer:ninja:

Seriously though, does this mean anything or are they just fitting Ynoa in there (although he's not a starter anymore)?

Nobody knows yet. Braves dont comment on injuries or anything of that sort to minor league players. We have to wait on a beat writer to get the dirt.

Acuna said his neck is still a little stiff. If theres any issues during the game Snitker will pull him.

Snitker said Swanson should be activated on Saturday.

He also said they'll work Jeremy Walker into more high leverage situations. Team has been impressed by him.

Gnats put Scherzer back on IL because of back problems, so we won't face him in this series.

DC is ATL2.0, you should see when the Falcons are in town to play the Skins.
