23 Million In CAP: How Will TD Use It

Sheesh nobody thinks he is playing for free.

He's literally asking what do we think Grady new cap hit will be and how much of the rest will be spread out between Deion and Julio.

Essentially what is the spread of the 23 mil between

Grady (new deal) and Julio/Deion (hopeful deal)

You can’t take away the franchise tag and not factor in the new deal and say we have 23 mill because it isn’t true :tiphat:

That’s how I red it also.

If they get Julio done where they’ll make money on the cap is how much less his deal is structured on his cap hit this year and next year.

From what I’m seeing they’ll roll the 21 odd million into his new extension so if I’m reading it right and 20 is the number per he’ll be seeing 80 odd mill  in new money. Now how this is structured is another thing.

I’m just asking how we use the money between Grady & The Jones’s...possibly add Bailey too

What about my quote didn't factor in Grady new deal when I said

"Spread of the 23 mil between Grady (new deal) and Julio/Deion (hopeful deal)"

The moment Grady signed his new deal, we in no shape or form had 23 mill in cap space so why title the thread the way as if we do :tiphat:

we simply don’t know the cap number until the contract details are released. Not  knowing the numbers =/= assuming we have 23 mill

If he wants to play another year or two after his deal runs out why wouldn’t we sign him to a reasonable deal? Do you not know how important he’s been to the OL and team in general?

So you wanna resign him and watch him fall off a cliff do to age?

When the Falcons were negotiating Grady's deal were they negotiating with space for 23 milli for this year or nah?

It's this thing called....math.

We had about ~$7MM in cap space before the deal. = $7MM
Erase Grady's franchise tag number = $15MM
That equals $22MM.

Depending on the source and OP's liberal rounding, $23MM isn't incorrect.

A bit liberal, you are correct

So on Spotrac it says the Falcons have about 22 million in cap space.  Of that number below is Grady's part of it.

Grady JarrettDT---------0.00

So since Grady's cap hit is certainly going to increase I think it's a safe bet the Falcons aren't going to have 20 million in cap space.

How is the thread title based AFTER the Grady contract was already signed?

Yes sir.  That’s the point.  How much will they use on Grady & The Jones’s.  And is enough left for Bailey

Grady's cap hit was ZERO.

12-15 million is probably a safe bet for his cap hit.

So 10 million in cap space is a decent estimate of which Julio's extension will take the rest.

So you didn't want to answer the question. I can understand why. No need to answer now. I'll answer yours though.

Because we are unaware of the contract details the question fits.

"How will TD use the 23 mil?"

"Answer - Let's say he used 12 on Grady and will use 4 on Julio and 2 on Debo. That gives is 4 mil in cap space"

It's so easy....

Between Grady and Julio.... that's probably all the cap space for this year with a little left over.

They won't have the space for Deion's unless they backload the cap hits.

Very easy, we don’t have 23 mill in cap space :tiphat:

I'm not sure if you're agreeing with anything I'm saying here or not.

But sure TD might use it like that.

Sounds like Debo is next up though...with Julio coming soon as well...

It reads as if the team wants to get all 3 (Grady, Deion, Julio) done before TC.

The 23 million in cap space was a bit mis-leading to me.

Bottom line is after Grady and Julio's extension... maybe 4 million in space for mid-season pick-ups.

Regardless you understood and was able to answer the question.

You know how people want to seem like the smartest person in the room...err thread...so they go through unnecessary great lengths and end up not doing what they set out to do.

Throw the hat up for him. Lol.

You just add back in  Grady’s 15.8 TAG with the 7 mill in CAP we currently have

Then you have to add back in what Jarrett's cap hit will be for this year, which will likely be around $13m leaving the Falcons about $10m under the Cap for 2019.

Unless Grady is playing for free we don’t. Hence why we don’t make misleading threads saying we do :tiphat:

True but OP could have done a better job clarifying his position so there was no confusion.

I get that. That's not what I'm contesting. Once it was clarified, the perpetrator continued on as if it's some difficult position to obtain.
