23 Million In CAP: How Will TD Use It

83 posts in this topic

Sounds like TD has Grady & Debo locked up. I suspect a 20 APY deal in principal is agreed upon with Julio.

So we have 23 million in CAP space. How do y’all think TD divides it up?

A chunk would go to Julio’s final contract so he retires a Falcon. Then we got plenty of guys who need deals soon. Keanu, De’Vondre, Hoop, maybe Mack?

Do you know how old Mack is? What in the world makes you think we'd sign him to an extension?

Not that I dont believe and maybe I missed it where did the cap number  come from I didn't see any details yet

You just add back in  Grady’s 15.8 TAG with the 7 mill in CAP we currently have

If he wants to play another year or two after his deal runs out why wouldn’t we sign him to a reasonable deal? Do you not know how important he’s been to the OL and team in general?

I vote trade for clowney. Houston has zero intent to resign him.

It’s going to our 3 guys...just curious how they divide it up

Yea but he is getting at the age where it makes no sense to lock him up to a long term deal.  He is approaching yearly contracts age.  Not that he isn't hugely important, he is, he is just getting to that age where a long term deal could end up being bad for the team.

You have no idea where it's going. Julio and Debo's cap number will not go up on deals this year.

Debo only makes 1.8 so it will go up if TD is smart. Julio will drop a few million.

Im regards to Mack I would love to resign him, even though I’ve read Atlanta might not resign him.  I’d love for him to stay until he retires as long as he’s playing like he is.

That’s not how it works. You have to see how Grady new deal is structured

Why are you spreading fake news. The cap number isn’t out yet

It's this thing called....math.

We had about ~$7MM in cap space before the deal. = $7MM
Erase Grady's franchise tag number = $15MM
That equals $22MM.

Depending on the source and OP's liberal rounding, $23MM isn't incorrect.

That’s the point of the thread.  How will they spread the 23 million between these three players

Yeah but he signed a new deal that wasn’t      revealed how the structure is. So if year one of his new deal is 12 mill. You would take 15-12 and it would create 3 mill in cap space added to the 7 mill we already have to create 10. Or if year one cap hit is 14, it would create 1 mill in cap space added to the 7 we already have making 8. In no one way do we have 23 mill, simple math genius. Have to wait how the new deal is structured to know how much cap we have

A bit liberal, you are correct

ButSkiuup is correct, you still have to bring back in Grady's true number for 2019.  It will be less than 15, but it will be more than 0.  I assume his cap hit for 2019 will be in the 10-12 range.  So for arguments sake, give Grady 11 mil, therefore TD has 12 mil in 2019 to apply to Julio and Debo, if they so choose.

Thank you for having a brain and not thinking Grady is playing for free in 2019

I thought that was self explanatory, honestly...

Not the way it read on the initial post, sounded like you were saying Grady locked up, therefore we have 23 mil to play with beyond Grady's cap hit.

Sheesh nobody thinks he is playing for free.

He's literally asking what do we think Grady new cap hit will be and how much of the rest will be spread out between Deion and Julio.

Essentially what is the spread of the 23 mil between

Grady (new deal) and Julio/Deion (hopeful deal)

I would rather ask, how much cap space TD needs to sign the players DQ wants on the team short term and long term. Falcons are very conservative when it comes to managing cap space. TD can get creative if the team wants to sign some one.

That’s how I red it also.

If they get Julio done where they’ll make money on the cap is how much less his deal is structured on his cap hit this year and next year.

From what I’m seeing they’ll roll the 21 odd million into his new extension so if I’m reading it right and 20 is the number per he’ll be seeing 80 odd mill  in new money. Now how this is structured is another thing.
