Tick, Tock....8 days to Deadline to sign Grady Jarrett (Tuesday, July 16)

I believe the Falcons will get it done.  Deal will be for more than everyone thinks is fair.   It will probably look like an overpay today but probably will look decent as time moves on.

Just look at our D-Line - Grady is rather indispensable.

Every major contract signed one year will look great in hindsight because a new player is gonna break bread the following year whether he’s worth it or not. That’s just how it goes.

it is just soooo much safer to re-sign your own guy than to sign an UFA - if a guy gets to the market, buyer beware.

Which is why I never really understand overreactions to new deals

Or he went to FA so he could go to the highest bidder not because there's something wrong with him.

I disagree.  Smart NFL GMs keep their core together.  Anchor players that are young enough, healthy enough and great attitude and leaders in lockerrroom - those guys don't tend to make it to free agency.

Think it’ll get done and like you said - we’ll overpay for the time being. We gotta have him - I guess - according to all the experts on here lol. So pay him $20m per yr and get it the he// over with

I'm not sure why this is so hard to understand for some but this x 1000.  Matt Ryan went from highest paid to 5th highest on A/YR in the matter of weeks lol

I don’t think Fletcher Cox or Short’s contract necessarily look great if I’m being honest

To play devils advocate: we wouldn’t let Grady walk to sign a FA replacement.  We let him walk to sign Debo, Neal, Hooper, Dre and not have to cut Sanu, Free & possibly Mack

the only one on your list that is more valuable than Grady is Debo.

Neal, being honest, will have less of an effect in today's NFL w/ the crackdown on violent hits - even clean hits that look violent are gonna be flagged.   As much as I love Neal, he's not in the same class as Grady.

As to Hooper - he's slightly better than average and easily replaceable - 500yds and 4-5 TDs is run of the mill.  Again, replaceable.   Freeman? he could be processed after this year if he doesn't have a good year.

I'm telling you - Grady's not going anywhere - and if some of those guys are sacrificed to keep Grady - so be it.

Going to be depressing seeing him in a Saints uni in 2 years.

Eh, I'd like him but we have our own hands full with Rankins coming up for a new deal after 2020 and they play the same position. If he can play NT then maybe, but the Buccaneers however will likely be in the market again though.

The Buccs are always in a perpetual state of DT replacement.

I wonder what the new CBA will do to contracts in the 2020 offseason OR up until new one is done some time before 2021 season; and if the cap rules will be changed any?

Seems like Julio is more likely to be done at this rate. Falcons risk a lot letting Grady play on the tag if they wanted to keep him long-term...

I figured if he were a Falcon for life; which TD and DQ indicated, then it would be done along with Julio.
