You can’t make this s*** up.

In just the NFC SOUTH, what WR would you sign to a big contract extension? Spoiler alert, Julio gets the bronze

hahahaha.....(deep breath)....hahahahah

Thomas is not on the same level as Julio or even Evans for that matter

Thomas is more on level of Jarvis Landry or Keenan Allen.

Julio an Evans are premier, perimeter threats. Ala AJ Green, Hopkins.

I hope the Saints pay Thomas more than Julio though, that would be hillllarious

Thomas and Evans are about 6 years younger with tons of potential. I really don’t see the problem

Why include Julio in the discussion if they aren’t going to discuss his strengths and the reasons not to take him.

The question should be “what WR under 26 years old is most deserving of a big extension?”

And nothing in Julio’s game hints that a production drop is on the horizon

I get that.

But why even have Julio as an option for discussion if they were just going to factor him out of it from the get go due to age?

Exactly my point

Yep, its like talking about what QB would you take to win a SB with Brady, Rodgers, and Roethlisburger but factor Brady out of the discussion because he is in his 40s.

I don't see how their logic is something to disagree with.

They explicitly state 'if you want one guy for the next five years'.  They didn't diss Julio in the least.

And you guys would be screaming bloody murder if they'd left him out.

Valid points. I just see the point behind the segment is all. Don’t care either way. We have the best receiver in the league. Who cares what Florio thinks

Are we being stupid for extending Julio for 5 years then?  Honest question

Well.......Julio has been training with T.O.

Lets hope the fountain of youth rubs off on Julio and he makes a mockery of the next 5 years thing.

No, not stupid.  Even at say 70%, Julio's still better than 95% of the receivers out there.

But that's irrelevant to the conversation this thread is about.

Do you think at 34 Julio will still be top 5 WR in NFL?

Not really.

Both Evans(need to see birth certificate to prove he is really only 25, man has been around forever) and Thomas are young studs.

Personally I don't.

That's pretty old for a NFL receiver with his nagging injuries.  Those screws in his feet can't take the pounding.  I doubt he plays more than three more seasons.

Mike Evans only 25?

Seems like he has been around forever for some reason.

I think because of all the big performances he had in the Alabama games.

I wonder if it seems Evans has been around forever because we have to face him twice per season (and he usually makes some big plays against us).

True, but it also seems like he has been a Buc for a very long time for some reason.

..........I bet Trufant would say the same thing.

No, he has the type of game and body to still be productive late into his career.

It's the NFL though, so all long-term contracts with back-end salary cap repercussions are huge gambles.  The Falcons are essentially counting on the next 3 years and hoping for the best for the 2 after.

This is true of all contracts though (no matter the age) as predicting how good any player will be five years from now (even a 23-year old) is just a gamble  - how many times has Brady been over the hill, who predicted Manning's arm turning into a noodle from one year to the next?

Maybe, Evans has been tough to stop for the Falcons. Even when almost getting killed by Keanu a few years back, he still made the catch.
