Trade Up Target

I have a feeling if we want to make a deal with the Cavs, it's going to involve giving them back their 2020 pick, or at the very least changing it to a single second round pick.

I still like my idea of giving them #10 + #41 + us taking on Tristan Thompson's $18.5M contract for #5.  And if we have to give them a concession on next year's 2020 first round pick, I'd even be open to doing that if we got into a trade battle.  Because I imagine there's a ton of teams trying to get that #5 pick.  But we have more trade capital than anyone, and it's not even close.  Especially if we are willing to do something with the Cav's 2020 pick.

That’s a lot of moving parts and it sounds nice until you mention Thompson which totally turns me off with this.

Aside from Love, which they aren't moving, Thompson is the ONLY contract they can unload by itself and it finally get them under the luxury tax penalty after signing a rookie class too.

And, Thompson is an expiring contract, plus would fill the Dedmon role actually pretty nicely.  We have the cap space for it and it would get us up to #5 without losing a first round pick this year.

Very true!  Just not a fan of Thompson’s game however if it would get us to five then I’m good!
