Jimmy Moreland: 10 INT’s and Counting

Recommended Posts

I know it’s just OTA’s & Mini-Camp, but how did he drop to the 7th?

Redskins DB Jimmy Moreland intercepts 3 passes at OTAs Wednesday

  • by Jordan Dajani

Former James Madison cornerback Jimmy Moreland told us he was a pick machine earlier this month, and it appears that he was not lying.

During OTAs on Wednesday, Moreland intercepted three passes, and had his defense fired up. Even though he's a seventh-round pick, we shouldn't be surprised. He foreshadowed this.

"I got the energy and the confidence level of being that type of player for them on that defense," Moreland told reporters at rookie minicamp. "The turnover ratio wasn't that good last season but I'm a pick machine, so I'm trying to get that turnover ratio up and get my defense off the field and get my offense momentum back."

The first interception was apparently an incredible one, as JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington reported that he had no idea how Moreland came down with the ball. He also said that the sideline got fired up for him.

About 20 minutes later, rookie quarterback Dwayne Haskins overthrew his receiver, safety Jeremy Reaves was able to tip the pass and Moreland was right there to secure possession.

Then, 40 minutes later, Haskins tried to throw a touchdown in the left corner of the end zone, but Moreland jumped the route and took it the other way.

Overheard Doug Williams tell someone that Moreland has about 10 interceptions since the start of OTAs," Stackpole tweeted. "'He's a thief.'"

Uh oh. They not gonna like this lol.

Oh yeah, I need to make it Falcons related.  Here we go:

Falcons 2024 FA wishlist

- Jimmy Moreland

And this doesn’t mean he will be great during the season.  But it’s an impressive start for the young man.

Well I would be more impressed if Washington had a any QBs. I am happy for the man as it would be nice to see a 7th round pick prove he is way better than the scouts thought he was.

I am sure if the Falcons had lower level QB throwing passes during OTAs even True would be able to come away with a few pics. During the real season we know how that goes.

I like Moorelamd, wanted us to draft him, but it's just OTAs and Haskins.

Jimmy probably won’t even start in the slot this year.  But a nose for the ball isn’t teachable.  Just like Kazee...just has s knack for being around the football

Jimmy is a gambler though and has been beat badly a few times in OTA’s  as a result.

Yepp I thought he was the perfect nickle corner for us, but alas we got Kazee playing there and I like Sheffield I think he can also end up being very good.

I like our guys that we drafted.  They both fit the length model that Quinn loves.  Moreland didn’t.

He was a 7th round pick for a reason. Pretty much every team, including the Redskins, would have taken the corners we drafted ahead of him. Best of luck to him. I hope he proves a lot of people wrong.

Have any of our guys made a single interception yet?  Just curious.

Cant teach a nose for the ball

In b4 folks start saying “it’s just OTAs”.

I also wanted him in the draft. He bears watching on down the line as one of those  “who got away”.

One guy you wanted is also looking good.  Adderly.  Is the coach saying he is trying to hurt people?

Bradley gives a pair of rookies high marks

During OTAs  it may be difficult for rookies to gauge the tempo at which to practice.

Lynn said safety Nasir Adderley was a standout on Monday, but the compliment came with a caveat: Slow down the pace in an effort to protect your teammates.

Defensive Coordinator Gus Bradley praised Adderley for how quickly he’s grasped things.
