Are we better off at running back now then we were 3 years ago?

Recommended Posts

Right now are running backs going into 2019 are Devonta Freeman, Itto Smith and Quadree Ollison. Going into the 2016 season we had Devonta Freeman, Tevin Coleman and Teron Ward. Do you think we are better off at running back going into this season then we were going into 2016? Reports are saying Freeman looks like his old self so I ask this question assuming all 3 backs will be healthy through out the season.

I think Tevin is better than Ito, but Quadree looks like he can be better than Ward.  But he’s done nothing yet, so it’s a big maybe.  It also remains to be seen if Freeman can bounce back from all the injuries and stay healthy.

So I would say this group has a higher ceiling AND a lower floor.

There’s absolutely no way to know that right now. Three years ago we had no idea going into that season that those three RBs were gonna be that good as well as that offense and there’s no way to know now.

Blocking scheme was different, off lineman, offensive game plan and offensive coordinator was too so with so many factors in play we can only guess at this point and without even seeing one of the current RBs (Pitt guy) play we simply can’t know that we can only hope.

Like everyone says, it basically depends on Ollison. I don’t personally think he has starting potential like some here do, from everything I’ve seen and heard about him I just don’t see anything special. I don’t hate the pick though since we do need a power back. With that said, Teco is/was better than Ito, but he’s got the chance to prove his worth this year with Teco gone. And honestly I have no idea how Free will look after having been gone for basically an entire year.
