g-dawg
Doing this one not based necessarily on what I would do - but based on what maybe Travis Schlenk will do. Of course, I like Schlenk and believe he has a good vision for the team so, in a way, guess it is what I would do as well - most of this is based on trying to read the tea leaves on what we know, what we hear and players we think Schlenk may like. Here goes: New Orleans Pelicans - Zion Williamson, SF/PF - Duke Memphis Grizzlies - Ja Morant, PG - Murray State NY Knicks - RJ Barrett, SG/SF - Duke LA Lakers - Darius Garland, PG - Vanderbilt ***We have a Trade*** (I know trades aren't announced at draft but bare w/ me) "We have a trade, The Cleveland Cavaliers have traded the #5 overall pick to the Atlanta Hawks for picks #8/ #17. With the 5th pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, the Atlanta Hawks select...Jarrett Culver, SG - Texas Tech 8) ****TRADED to CAVS**** 10) Atlanta Hawks - "We have a trade. The Atlanta Hawks trade the 10th pick to the Utah Jazz for their #23 pick and 2020 1st round pick (Top 10 protected)." 23) ****From Utah Jazz***With the 23rd pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, the Atlanta Hawks select BRUNO FERNANDO, PF/C - Maryland (6'10", 237lbs) 30)****We have a trade****The Milwaukee Bucks trade pick #30 to the Atlanta Hawks for picks #35 and #41. With the 30th pick in the 2019 NBA Draft the Atlanta Hawks select: Chuma Okeke, SF - Auburn (6'8", 230lbs, 7' wingspan) - smooth offensive player and 39.6% from 3-point range. Not overly explosive but has sneaky athleticism. Coming off an ACL injury so likely a player that will mostly be stashed his rookie year 35) ***Traded to Milwaukee**** 41)***Traded to Milwaukee*** 44) Atlanta Hawks - Justin Wright-Foreman, PG - Hofstra (6'2", 190lbs) SUMMARY: This draft probably will not WOW you with star power but HAWKS get the two players they wanted out of this draft in CULVER and BRUNO. Both have the ability to shoot the 3-ball. Culver can make offense and get his own shot. Bruno is still developing and shoots high percentage from free throw line indicating a good shooter. Okeke is very good shooter and 3-and-D wing that will have to be red-shirted most likely - at least until the all-star break but would have possibly gone much higher w/o the ACL injury. Don't know much about the PG other than he is more scorer and less in assists/steals but he was on a bad team where he had to take a lot of shots. Just a shot in the dark to see if he can stick in middle of 2nd round. Furthermore, we gain another future asset with a Top 14 protected 1st round pick for 2020 from Utah - further loading us up for 2020 with possibly as many as 4 first round picks. blkbigdog35 and Macknsweetjones

They're already in the luxury tax for next year and they haven't signed rookies or vets yet. Plus they've been in the tax for most of the Lebron years and repeater penalties are a beeeetch. Moving JR would save them millions. Maybe it's worth sliding back 3 spots. Maybe not. g-dawg

That's not what I meant. I'm saying NBA trades players "after the fact" Just see where Culver gets taken and pick up the phone. Waiting to see where Culver is taken and team X getting to see who is available at 8 or 10 is a much more effecient way of doing it. Looking at you NFL. Maybe player rights get traded. yeah, they don't do trades the same way they do in NFL. that's why Doncic got drafted by Hawks and Trae Young by Dallas. It's weird but that's the way they do it because league year starts after the draft. I don't know if they trade up or not - but they have the ammo if they so desire. Guess it depends on who they want. Don't think picks #1 nor #2 are in play for sure. If Hawks aren't interested in Barrett or Culver, then they probably don't trade up. WOR
The real issue here is that you had a chance to take Nic Claxton and you didn't. For that I give this mock an F and demand you change you avatar at once.

They have shown a ton of interest in Bruno Fernando.

Sucks for the Cavs that they're already capped out. Easy wave of 12 million would be a lovely trade piece for these teams looking to dump salary for Durant and others. I think hawks first option was Zion and that will never happen. I think their backup option is Rj Barrett. Why else trade for the #17 pick? #8 and #10 for Barrett and we pick whoever is there at #17. I don't think Barrett is Schlenk's kind of player - he is kind of ball dominant/hero ball type of guy and that won't likely jive w/ Trae Young and the Hawks offense that needs the ball in his hands. thofin21 and CTann

My line of thinking as well. This isn’t to say Barrett won’t be an impactful player in the NBA, but that his style of play may not really match what Schlenk wants to build in Atlanta; a free flowing movement offense that first runs through Trae. The ball movement stalls with Barrett’s style on the court. g-dawg
