FalconsIn2012
Can anyone help with this CAP question. Looking at Sportac they now show us at 7.1 million in CAP space. I know it counts the top 51 contracts but many of our lower round picks over the last 2 years don’t appear to count against our CAP. Foye, Miller, Green & Ollison all have their CAP number scratched through. Can anyone explain this to me? Do they count against our CAP or not? https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/atlanta-falcons/cap/
Ergo Proxy
Maybe that’s their way of indicating top 51? Everyone below 51 is crossed off. FalconsIn2012

takeitdown
All the 2nd year players they scratched out 570k, all the first year players they scratched out 495k. I don't know if those are vet minimums or what. But it's the same amount they scratched out from all 2nd years you show here and all first years. I always thought players who actually played had to count. So Foye has no CAP impact. Talk about value. Foye, Miller, Green & Ollison are all very likely to make the 53 at the expense of players with higher cap hits. federicofalcon2
Throughout the off-season, only the players with the 51 largest cap hits for the season will be counted toward the salary cap. https://www.hogshaven.com/2019/3/19/18272435/march-2019-a-deeper-dive-on-the-salary-cap-rule-of-51-the-rookie-pool this article explains it pretty darn well. Now I see. They don’t want to make assumptions on the 53 man roster during the offseason so it’s just bottom line, who makes the most. Yeah rather than pick their top 51 choices to make the roster, they list the top 51 highest contracts and only those are allocated before the cut dates but are never really finalized until that day i assume. Which is good I guess because we technically dont have a set number for our cap this year just yet and so much can be done to improve it that by that time we COULD have 10 to 20 million somehow. Exactly. Get JJ and Grady done, plus drop some 53man roster cuts and suddenly 20m in space. Of course, a good bit of it could go to Debo later this year or Hooper etc. Also, could mean a pass rush signing?? Atl Falcon

Well seeing as Debo could set records for LB contracts it would help, I honestly don't think Hooper will cost as much as some people think, but yeah being able to use money correctly and get key players signed, I could see us going after someone once cuts are done and someone high end is released in cap cuts, (Freeney) that would bring us help along the line.
