Falcons Fan MVP
Who thinks the Falcons defense with Dan Quinn as it's coordinator will kick a$$ in 2019? Forcing turnovers, giving opposing Quarterbacks fits. I expect the Falcons defense to have a big chip on it's shoulder in 2019 and has potential to be one of the best defenses we've had in a long long time with Kazee, Neal, Takk, Grady, Clayborn, Hageman, hopefully Vic Beasley of 2016, Allen, Deion Jones and DQ guiding the ship. Your thoughts? PokerSteve

FalconsIn2012
The 1980, 1986, 1991, 1998 & 2010 defenses are tragically unappreciated. If we are on par with either of those units, we will waltz our way into Miami next February and hoist the Lombardi ATLSlobberKnockers, capologist, Falcons Fan MVP and 1 other

Redswingline2
I would be happy if we rank somewhere in the top 12. I just do not think that the DE position is good enough to push over the top. I really have to question Beasley's desire for the game. Chitown2ATL_Falcon
Brewcrew
I'm not crazy about the defenses depth. I think we are still one or two injuries away from starting scrubs. But if everyone is healthy we should have a very good defense. The offense this year will do a better job at ball control, running the ball and time of possession as well, which should also help keep the defense fresh late. ⚡Slumerican⚡ and Malachore

Malachore
Defense has absolutely no depth, 1 starter gets hurt and you got bottom feeders filling in. Falconsfan567, 408Falcon, JJC28 and 1 other
DonDaLuvMaker
It just bothers me how the Falcons haven't fielded some type of consistently good defense throughout a certain period of time within their history while teams like the Steelers and Ravens are almost certain to have good defenses year in and year out for the most part. .......it makes me jealous!!!!! egoprime II

You just gave the reason why, for the Falcons the biggest problem has been a total lack of consistency. The Ravens and Steelers go after the same type players year after year because they know that what they do, works. The Falcons are now seeing some consistency with the defense so that unit -should- be better, especially if our offense can go back to being more TOP oriented so we can keep our D on the sidelines more. The aforementioned Steelers and Ravens championship teams featured good O lines with good running attacks. Our improvements there will do some good things for us. droopy1592
If we can run the ball and score like 2016 I say top 10 through 3 quarters, number 16 overall including garbage time. 408Falcon and PokerSteve

Not only that, some of our bottom feeders are pretty expensive. Because for some reason our FO sees the need to have veteran backups. That's fine, if they actually play when the opportunity arises, but....it seems our backups are kept mainly for special teams. Take Bruce Carter and Khemal Ishmael, for example. If there was ever a time for them to take the field at LB, last year was it. But they never logged significant snaps. So why are they here? I would rather have young players who might improve occupying those roster spots. That's how young players get developed. These vets, we know what they can and can't do. Plus they cost two and three times more.
Draftnut57
I have no problem saying we will have a top 10 D# by the end of this coming season. The biggest reason is because of The great Draft and FAs we picked up so far.. And the 2nd biggest reason is because of the draft we had on the O# side . A great O# is one of the best D# you can have ,, Long drives wear down the other team ,, and keep our D# fresh .. The only thing that could have been better is if we some how could have gotten DT Christian Wilkins.. added to our team some how. I want to go on record and say this Clemson player will be one of the best pass rushing DTs in the NFL very quickly. AT least by the end of next season. JMO ... I think if he had been there, he would have been our pick.. JMO. But we still have one of the best teams this year.. I'm just thankful for what I've seen in a huge change and up grade on how well we drafted this year.. To me, I see a huge huge improvement.. I don't know who to give the credit to.. But who ever it was to make the changes ,, will not only get a raise, but will be saught after by a lot of other teams. My guess would be TD made the moves to make this off season happen. He is a very under rated part of this team.. I made a post before the draft talking about my number one hope in this draft is for us to get just one powerful larger DE ,, Because it was so evident how badly we needed this player.. So fro this reason ,, DE John Cominsky 6-5, 285, 23 yrs old.. is my favorite player we got in the draft.. Yes yes I know we had to have all the other players,, But this one player will do more for this team than you could ever dream ,, Quadree Ollison 6-1, 232, 22 years old is my 2nd favorite player because of the effect he will have on our O#.. is huge... Oh!!! and don't sleep on Brian Hill !! Hey!! two big backs are better than one!! I don't know of any other year I really felt like I could say,, we have a stacked team! But if we have ever had one,, it's this year with these players. To me,, this is the most talented Falcon team in the History of this franchise .... The changes in philosophy as regards the type of O linemen we want....getting an RB for more of a 'power' running attack....bringing in Koetter and just as important, Mularkey. The signs are all there. The Falcons are going to do a lot more 'Smitty ball'.... and its a good thing, too. Our short yardage conversion rate should improve, our TOP, with more scoring.... we won a lot of games playing that brand of football. Throw in the fact we have more talent on defense now than we had under Smitty...I can see good things happening this year. That is, if the Falcons can avoid running so much of that outside-zone stuff.
