Nationals at Braves

Watched a good bit of that Nats/Marlins game today, and the Nats just stink right now. Weren't really hitting that well, although Urena has been better recently. Still, they struggled.

Their bullpen is horrific, but they looked okay today. Defense let them down a good bit today.

We can easily sweep them. Not saying we will, but I like Fried going tomorrow.

Nats are a shell of the team they use to be. They have talent and Strasburg will be tough but these are winnable games for sure.

At some point they have to stop spending and start trading these guys. Keep Rendon, Soto, Turner and Robles.

Strasburg plus Atlanta heat and humidity equals Braves win.  Im saying 7-1.

He sort of solved that a little bit last year. He made 1 start at SunTrust last year and it was in June. He went 6.2 innings, 3 ER and 10 Ks. It is a new year though.

Mark Bowman speculated that the Braves may drop a RP when Ender returns. He said if they opt to keep the bullpen at 8 then Joyce or Camargo will likely go unless Riley falls off.

Lol! Snit better not even consider ender over Camargo! That would be absolutely foolhardy!

Sure, but in a pinch-hit situation with runners on base I’m taking Camargo 10/10 times.

Camargo plays more positions but he cant play the one we need. We need another CF. If Acuna had to leave a game right now we'd be forced to play Markakis or someone in CF that's never done it. Sending Camargo out to get him regular ABs and let him get heated up isn't the worst idea. Hes also hitting .200 with runners on base this season. I still think Joyce is more likely to go but Camargo working out the kinks isn't out of the question.

Camargo isn't a part time player it seems. He needs constant ABs.

I still have never quite been sold on Johan Camargo as a long-term starter. Folks look and see what he's done in his 2 years in the majors but forget he was only a .278/.333/.372 (.705) hitter in the minors in over 2000 career PA. But he's been a .272/.333/.438 (.771) hitter in the majors. He had a grand total of 15 minor league homeruns. He's already hit 25 in the majors. Guys don't just get to the majors and all of a sudden start hitting for power that they never displayed in the minors. Baseball doesn't work like that.

Also, he's an extremely poor hitter left-handed and that was the case even last year which is why I wasn't totally against the Mike Moustakas rumors.

There are exceptions to every rule though. If baseball constantly worked like that than players that were dominant in the minors would never bust in the majors. All we can go on is what he has done in the majors. And he has proven over 2 years if he gets constant ABs he produces

Johan legit changed his power profile but I'd say the jury was still very much out on him as a left handed hitter after last year. It looked like he "figured something out in the second half", sure, but if you look at the underlying metrics it said that he was great at the flare balls and really just average from that side. I thought he'd regress to .260/.330/.450 this year, I still think he would've even with constant playing time.

I totally agree with you. Some guys can come off the bench and hit really well, Charlie is a great example. Other guys need the day in and day out ABs.

It's neither a good or bad thing, it's just the way a guy plays. It is up to the coaches to play to the players strengths, if they continually put a player in a position where they he won't succeed, that is on the coaches, not the player.
