I can understand being hesitant about buying into Vic, but there are also reasons to think he can get 10-12 sacks.

2017 was a wash.  He was on a similar pace as 2016 when he tore his hamstring.  4 sacks in 6 games.  But they didn’t force him to rest it the recommended 4-6 weeks so he came back early, tweaked it again which essentially derailed everything after Week 7.

Last year with all the injuries it’s tough to know what he was supposed to be doing or who he was covering for.  But once Irvin came into the picture Cmvic had 4 sacks in final 7 games.

So double digit sacks is very possible IMO

Meh.  Don't see it.

He will be fine. We all know the players were not happy with the coaches we had. Sark, Manuel and armstrong was pretty stale.

Just imagine you are in Vic's shoes -

You are making $12.8 million this year, no matter how well or how much you play

You will likely not be with the Falcons next year, so why care about them this year

You did well in 2016, so just convince another desperate team that the problem was the Falcons and not you and you will at least get a mediocre contract next year on another team

You certainly want to avoid an injury no matter what as that will be worse than poor sack totals this year

You figure you and your buddy Grady can play for a different team next year and laugh at the Falcons for overpaying both of you this year

Is that Suh in his prime?  We need to make Hageman the focal point of our defense.

Any suggestions for a 5 year - $100 million contract extension for Beasley?

Who the **** is going to pay him that kind of money?

Seriously doubt either player thinks in that universally dumb way of thinking.

If he gets 12 sacks he will probably get 15-18 million from somebody.  Just glad it won’t be us

Vic can you return to form and get double digits sacks while setting the edge on run plays?

No because I’ll be used more in a situational sense this year against the run.

Also fun fact. Vic Beasley's sacks almost always come on 1st and 2nd down according to the numbers. This in my mind means if the offense is doing what its supposed to do he can just pin his ears back and rush. Last season we got him doing more than he should be because of injuries. It was annoying looking back on tape and watching him in contain instead of pass rushing. Pass rushing needs to be his only job. If you can limit his snaps in the mean time to keep him fresh so be it

GREAT point. Our defense was built to play with a lead, just  like Manning’s Colts...definitely not built to stop a team running the ball to preserve a lead

In 2017/2018 we were either in one score games or losing.  Rarely up 10 points.

While I’m disappointed he isn’t at OTA’s, our season may  hinge on this man returning to form.  This is still in him.  Don’t forget how special he can be. Take a look.

Youll notice how effective he is on stunts.  That’s a big reason I wanted Dex at 14.  It would free up Vic in space

If your Q.B is getting killed on almost every pass play....none of this **** matters!

Follow Brady, Patriots blue print and we get the chip.

They have always invested in trenches and their surrounded with moderate role players with depth to fit in system created by B.B

Rams had the most elite defense last year...what happened?

Rams didn't have an elite defense. What are you smoking? You're just following FA names and thinking they were elite.

It's his career. Attending OTAs last year led to a sub-par performance. The year before, too. This might not be a bad thing for him.

Yeah, if you lay off your heart pills maybe your heart will get better .

Rams were an average defense.  And the Patriots don’t spend money in the trenches.  For 2019 they rank 27th in both DL & OL spending.  In 2018 they were 25th in DL and 29th in OL.

In 2017 they spent 12 mill on their DL

In 2016 they spent 9 mill on their DL

In 2015 they spent 8 mill on their DL

Some people make that mistake. Do you remember Eddie Johnson, who was one of my all-time favorite Hawks players? He was bi-polar (or "manic-depressive" as they called it, but now is apparently a pejorative). When he was on his meds, he was steady as a rock and a precursor to Chris Paul as a short but aggressive point guard. Well, dude used to get to the point where his meds made him feel fine so like a bunch of bi-polar people, he assumed he didn't need them. When he came off one time, he test drove an expensive car that he decided not to return and almost got arrested. Another time, he jumped off the second floor balcony of a woman that he was cheating with (he was married) while her husband or boyfriend was shooting at him.

Then, you had Hank Gathers, who might have been an NBA hall of famer one day, who felt sluggish as a result of his  medication for arrhythmia and talked his doctor into lowering his dosage shortly before he died on the court. Might have happened with Reggie Lewis, too. If people are willing to risk their lives by reducing the meds they take to save them, you can bet your *** there are plenty of cautionary tales of idiots who didn't appreciate the blessing that they had with a pro sports contract and burned the only bridge they had. Hope Vic is not that guy, but if he is, God speed.
