I don't think Trump did or could have done this part entirely on purpose, but he's nourished a terrible instinct on the left to make something more complicated than it is so that Trump himself couldn't have thought of it. Now he's got to be either the biggest idiot in the world, or a genius whose every political move is driven by unknowable intent with a 5D chess move in mind. I don't think it's a coincidence that we learned to call that theory of his behavior "5D chess" instead of something that sounds more serious and believable about someone that doesn't appear to want people to think he's capable of thinking that far ahead.

For some reason whenever we talk about this you generalize to other people with things like "genius" or "biggest idiot in the world," i.e., **** I actually haven't said.  It's weird.

What's complicated about what I'm saying?

You're suggesting that the racist tweets and the tweets about Pelosi were intended to "make the left accuse Pelosi of siding with Republicans in the week before the hearing" or distract from it.  That is far more complicated than just thinking (1) the racists tweets are because he's racist and (2) the Pelosi tweets are because he's trying to pimp what he considers a win for himself, or that he simply wants to make Pelosi and Schumer look weak.  Those explanations fit him so much better than adding the additional "in order to drive a wedge between x and y."

Further, I'm not disagreeing with you or gritz that he's figured out media in a unique way, but I think what he's figured out is that he can get attention by tweeting loudly and proudly, more than anything.  He's learned that they will cover his most inane or awful things, which will rile up his base, or allow Fox to fawn over him.  I think it's driven by his need for attention and affirmation (which has been overwhelming for decades) from his base and lackeys, or his impulse to lash out, more than a well thought out plan to divide leftists and liberals or to hide some secret agenda (again, on this latter point, he has sometimes exposed and undermined his "hidden" agendas by exactly this kind of tweeting)

**again, please note I did not use terms like "genius" or "idiot"**

It's much the same as gun rights supporters look at any form of control. They are afraid of the slippery slope that making any concessions could cause, which I think is dumb.

Democrats could come out against third trimester abortions and most would have little problem with it, IMO.

The Federal assault weapons ban of 1994 was real though.

So is Trump going after bump stocks and silencers, but very little is being said about that.

So far he's been a bigger threat to gun rights than Obama was.

Thread poll - Is the discussion between Serge and I regarding Trump's tweeting and such:

1. The most boring thing in this thread,

2. The second most boring thing in this thread after the discussions between @GEORGIAfan and others regarding various healthcare proposals,

3. The third most boring thing in this thread after #2 and any discussion between @Leon Troutsky and others about the specifics of various polling operations, or

4. The fourth most boring thing in this thread after #s 2, 3, and any time someone tries to substantively discuss anything with @WhenFalconsWin?

Thanks in advance.

Okay, so it doesn't even take a complete sentence to explain what I'm describing here, but it's too complicated for him to have thought about it because it's more complicated than he's stupid and has the motivations of a child. You're not saying he's an idiot; you're just continuing to believe that he'd need a strategic adviser to post something that would intentionally take advantage of Pelosi's poor standing with Twitter leftists.

Says the guy who makes "tongue in cheek" remarks about newborns being strangled just to advance his political football a yard down the field.

This all resulted from bills in New York and Virginia. New York passed, Virginia, didn't, to say I or anyone else said Doctor's and Nurses were performing these at any rate is dishonest. I clearly never said anything like that.

Unfortunately, the parents exercised their infanticide on their newborn child, that in no way should ever be a status quo through a "bill" or murderous parents. For you to equate that with anyone on here is disgusting and in bad faith.

Since my name is on here I will address this. The first three are very boring, no doubt.

One thing about WFW, he/I have been called brilliant/stupid, educated/moron, fascinating, rich/poor, funny, amusing, not so funny, but one thing is for sure, boring has never entered the lexicon when describing @WhenFalconsWin

Please show me the bill that allows for the strangling of a newborn.

How can you not understand how to use the forward slash appropriately? It's really not that hard.

And for the record, being impulsive, narcissistic, desperate for attention, and racist can be attributes of children. They can also be characteristics of adults, and if you've not known and had to deal with any adults with those characteristics, then I envy your life.  In Trump's case, he's literally demonstrated all of them for decades, so the idea that I'm simply giving him the "motivations of a child" is odd. You're also saying these things despite of the extensive reporting demonstrating how little intellectual curiosity he shows, and how limited his attention span is.

You don't have to be stupid to need strategic political advisers to help target your messages.  And yes, he actually does have strategic advisers, and I have no doubt they help him to tweet certain things at certain times, while trying to distract him from tweeting others (which he just does anyway at like 3 in the morning).  Sometimes he might just tweet something for one reason (Hooray me! or This Will Really Shut Down That Mouthy Pelosi) that accomplishes another (leftists get mad at Pelosi (apparently only based on the trump tweet and not any actual news about Pelosi)).

This isn't just your argument with me, this is my argument with practically all the left that posts in here save for Gritz, mdrake and Billy. Just about everyone else is or has been opposed to the idea that Trump wants people to think he's stupid, because the left, from the liberals to the socialists, all like the idea that Trump's too stupid to ever deceive them. I had to figure out for myself that Russiagate wasn't actually going anywhere, and I realized I'd have to do that whenever Trump does anything, because the vast majority of Trump analysis is just railing on an abstraction and doesn't penetrate into any of his behavior. That's how you figure something like what I'm saying is too complicated for Trump to have thought of it, even though it would be pretty easy for any relatively politically conscious individual to figure out if they spent half as much time on Twitter as Trump does. I think I literally figured it out while I was sitting on the toilet. Trump might have, too.

Ah, good, it was your idea to be mad at Pelosi so Trump's tweet wasn't an intentional act. I bet a lot of leftists come to that conclusion, or at least the minority that are exposed to the idea that Trump might not be as stupid as everyone in their Twitter feed says.

FTR, I've argued in here quite a bit recently that Trump has advisers because he talks to them and listens to them and might apply their advice, and I was told more or less that Trump doesn't listen to his advisers or glean information from being told things the way most human beings can. That's why he never learned how to troll, even though it looks like he knows how to troll, and he was the chosen candidate for Steve Bannon and the alt-right. None of that means anything for Trump today because Trump never listens to anyone.

I find you and Serge to both be personally likable, whereas in the vast majority of other board disputes, I usually find one or even both parties contemptible. So it could be worse I guess.

It may be boring but it is much more important to the American people than whether Trump is or isn't a media genius and more productive than any discussion with WFW.
