@achilles return, not asking this to be condescending, but just curious...have you ever read Nate Silver’s book “The Signal and the Noise”?  If you haven’t, it might give some insight into how he thinks about things and his approach to qualitative analysis.

i have not. i listened to his podcast a few times over the years and i've followed his election modelling since 2011. i don't take issue with his election modelling, but it's hard to run a day-to-day media organization around an event that happens every two and four years, and i feel like he's moved into general political punditry and theater for business reasons.

gafan can think whatever he wants, i just can't help but roll my eyes at things like "candidate tier lists" six months before the first primary/caucus. it's just twitter bait.

Sure what could possibly go wrong with changing up the election process of a country that has enjoyed the peaceful transition of power for over 200 years for something else without it even being an official change. No way this could go terribly wrong

two out of the last five presidential elections ended contrary to popular will.

it's those failures that are creating the appetite for change.

Not really its contrary to California's will

Popular vote total outside California:
Trump: 58,474,401
Clinton: 57,064,530

What’s the popular vote without Texas?

Landslide Clinton victory.

See how stupid it sounds now?

you understand how dumb this argument is, right? when faced with the indisputable fact that the popular will of the country was contrary to the electoral vote, you just arbitrarily cut out a massive part of the country because they didn't vote the way you liked.

and you have the audacity to whine about being disenfranchised.

"well, uh, what if california doesn't actually count???"

No it further proves the point NY,Cali, and IL  will determine every election. There's no reason to vote outside if those states in a popular vote system

the cumulative population of new york, california and illinois is 62 million people.

that's less than 19% of the country.

how are you so bad at this?
