jlrfalcon
So many of our Falcons have either generic or annoying-to-spell regular names that is convenient to create nicknames for them. Others have characteristics that just lend them to nicknames that are often used on TV, radio, newspaper and on these boards. My question is what are these names and who do we need ones for? Known nicknames: Matt Ryan - "Matty Ice" Austin Hooper - "Hoop" Deion Jones - "Debo" Dan Quinn - "DQ" Thomas Dimitroff - "TD" Julio Jones - "Julio" (not really a nickname but does anybody not know who this is when Falcons are mentioned?) Grady Jarrett - "Grady" (same as above?) Mohammed Sanu - "Sanu" (same as above but last name?) Alex Mack - "Mack" (same as above?) Matt Bosher - "Bosh" Ricardo Allen - "Rico" Devonta Freeman - "Free" Romarius Smith - "Ito" (nickname is heard more than regular name) Less heard nicknames: Keanu Neal - "Neo" Julio Jones - "Jet Jones" Takk McKinley - "Attack" Vic Beasley - "Beastly" Justin Hardy - "The Wolf" Desmond Trufant - "Lone Bright Spot" Players who need nicknames?: Giorgio Tavecchio Calvin Ridley Damontae Kazee Foyesade Oluokun Ty Sambrailo What other nicknames are out there or suggestions for nicknames exist? TheUsualStuff
Things like "Mack" and "Sanu" do not qualify as nicknames. Neither do initials really, but DQ and TD really need good alt-monikers. I prefer "Forrest" for DQ and "Q-Tip" for TD. shock and Tim Mazetti
Monolith2001
Keanu Neal goes by the nickname "Keke". Dan Quinn Quote: "Keke and Rico are both really pushing it from a rehab competitive side,” Quinn said. “They’re really determined [and] detailed and they’re off to excellent starts with their process.” Edited May 13, 2019 by Monolith2001 shock

His birth name is Quintorris Lopez Jones. Grady Jarrett - "Grady" (same as above?)Former DL coach Bryan Cox called him "Truck Driver" but I'm not sure it stuck after Cox was fired Mohammed Sanu - "Sanu" (same as above but last name?)He get's called "Mo" a ton, and apparently has been called "Third Down Sanu" since his college days. He goes by "Agent 12" a lot now. Alex Mack - "Mack" (same as above?)Kyle Shanahan started calling him "The Golden Retriever" back in their Cleveland days due to Mack consistently running to finish blocks at the next level with the type of enthusiasm a golden retriever has when running to fetch a frisbee to please it's owner. Matt Bosher - "Bosh" Ricardo Allen - "Rico" Devonta Freeman - "Free" Romarius Smith - "Ito" (nickname is heard more than regular name) Less heard nicknames: Keanu Neal - "Neo"Never heard him called that unless it's some fan on here trying to make a Matrix reference due to him having the same first name as the move's star. Neal was asked about that & said his older brother chose was a fan of the movie & chose the name Keanu because his family wanted a 'K' name. His mom liked it & so it stuck. However, Keanu himself is not a fan. He mentioned that people were always calling him "The Matrix" & he didn't get it. So he watched the movie & didn't like it. link: https://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/florida-football/keanu-neal-name-explanation/As for nicknames he seems to approve of, I've heard him called "Keke" by coaches, teammates, and family members. Julio Jones - "Jet Jones" Takk McKinley - "Attack"His name is Takkarist, so technically speaking "Takk" is his nickname Vic Beasley - "Beastly"Birth name is Victor, so "Vic" is a nickname Justin Hardy - "The Wolf" Desmond Trufant - "Lone Bright Spot"Never seen that before anywhere. He's often called "Tru" Players who need nicknames?: Giorgio TavecchioLots of folks started calling him "Italian Ice" last year after he filled in for Matt Bryant Calvin RidleyHe was often called "Sliderid" from middle school through college. also seen him referred to as "The Riddler" & "Code Red" Damontae KazeeFans here often call him "Krazee Kazee", and he was called "Wild Dog" in college Foyesade OluokunOften shortened to "Foye" Ty SambrailoBirth name is Tyler, so "Ty" technically is his nickname. Was called "Sambo" in college & gets called "Sombrero" on here occasionally What other nicknames are out there or suggestions for nicknames exist?De'Vondre Campbell joked on Twitter last year that "Shadow Monster" was his new nickname after the Falcons official twitter posted a picture of the creature from Stranger Things next to a picture of Campbell. Dan Quinn regularly calls him "Dre" as well. Adrian Clayborn gets called "Clay" a lot. When Jack Crawford was with the Cowboys, their DC nicknamed him "Ringo" after Beatles drummer Ringo Starr... since both were from the UK. shock and CrimsonFalcon
