The New Field Turf @MBS

I'm digging the new turf. It actually looks good on TV compared to the old one. I hope they also decide to paint the endzones black when the season starts.

And back to the subject, why would they need to change the turf so soon?  It's a brand new stadium.

Was thinking the same thing,,,

On the stadium tour last year they said about not needing to replace it until just before the world cup games were due to be played.

That went out the window rather quick.

They were alot of complaints about the turf last year, especially during the college championship game

I wonder if it has anything to do with injuries last year?

We had a fair number of injuries but it doesn't seem like most you could attribute to a turf issue.  Debo and Keanu went down in Philly

I was shocked at how healthy we were compared to the NFC South.  Tampa looks like a MASH unit.

It's probably the same turf that the Arizona Diamondbacks put in their stadium this year. The new turf is made with something different instead of old rubber tires and shoes. I can't remember what it is but I heard Chip Caray talking about it a couple days ago on the Braves game. It's supposed to be more forgiving than the rubber pellets were. So if it's the same then we won't be seeing anymore of the rubber pellets flying up.

Doubtful they'll paint the entire endzone since the endzone is also the goal box for Atlanta United games.

You sure, because it is not like they are using the Goals in the games anyway. :ninja:

From what I understand if they host World Cup they require them to have grass.
