Brown at RT?

45 posts in this topic

Can't post the tweet cause I have no service in this office.

"With the Falcons holding onto Brandon Fusco, I wonder if they will test out Jamon Brown at right tackle all this summer. He's got the length for it, played the position in college and dabbed a little bit there with the Rams before getting injured"

Thoughts? I know i'm not sold on Ty at all. I'd be down for that competition if they don't grab one the first 2 rounds

I think they just take as many OL and make something out of it. Nobody's contract is too burdensome. But I think it will be hard to beat Ty if they are truly staying fundamentally an outside zone running team.

Perhaps. I did what you said and watched the games he started last season and I honestly just don’t trust him man. He looked great when he was playing guard though. But playing tackle he needed a ton of help and gave up sacks with no effort.

Guard he was terrible. The only sacks he gave up was a stunt with Matthews and Beadles I think, which was ugly and a miscommunication with Hooper vs ARI. Other than that, it's truly perception. That's all it is. He handled his guy consistently in the pass game and got Coleman in space a number of times.

If I had the time, I'd do the same breakdown I did for Hawley but just don't feel like it. If Ty is starting, it's not a bad thing. He can be upgraded for sure, but unless it's a top 50 picks, he's playing.

We must have watched different footage. Margus Golden zipped by him untouched twice against Arizona. I thought he looked 10x better at guard

I'm gonna rewatch it all again if we don't take an RT at #14. I know he gave up some soft edges but was more by design than getting beat if I recall. Don't want to mis speak since it's been a little while and it's not as fresh as it was in early March lol

Lol true. You forced me to go back and focus on him a few weeks ago. I didn’t give a **** about no one else on the line but him lol

Another tweet says TD thinks 7-10 G/T will be taken in the first round.

Said 7-10 can start first day, so a bit different. Not trying to be an ***. Get the feeling they like Howard and Lindstrom in the 2nd or 3rd.

Lol if we didn't have a good, proven OC, I'd be nervous. But I don't think Sambrailo is any worse than Donovan Smith and Koetter was lighting teams up with him at LT.

You’re right. Like you said though it’s probably just best to wait until the first round to see if they grab a RT or not. If so you already know that guy is penciled in as the starter barring injury

I agree with him here. I think three tackles could go before Falcons pick at 14.

It's no accident we have 3 TE's now that are specialist at blocking. They're def gonna help out whoever is at RT whether it's a rookie or Ty/Brown.

As long as my dude Hoop running free I’m cool with that

Sounds about right. There's always an irrational run on some position every year.

How would a run on offensive linemen be irrational?  Team building usually starts up front doesn’t it?

What? I watched every one of his Falcon snaps in coach's mode. He got handled at guard by TB in 2018. He was solid at RT. The Golden sack he gave up was because of Hoop IMO. On the Matthews sack he just got beat on an inside stunt.

Watch it in coach's mode if you have Game Pass. It's amazing how much more you can see on the lines from that angle.

I can understand this train of thought and imagine most HCs feel this way. If I were a GM I'd be bullish on drafting players that can fit multiple schemes. There are plenty out there. Not getting locked into a scheme fit. Go 7-9 again and you could have a totally different scheme in 12 months with a bunch of misfits.
