Julio, AB and OBJ - What happens if JJ is third big WR to be traded?

109 posts in this topic

Julio, AB and OBJ - 3 best receivers in league (maybe add in DeAndre Hopkins...).

What would the haul be if Julio was traded?

OBJ generated a mid 1, a 3 and a solid player.  Julio is perceived to be even better, so let's say he's traded for a mid 1 and a 2. (let's use Denver as an example)

First, it would clear cap room to sign Deion Jones, Keanu Neal and Austin Hooper.    Without deciding on moving one of the heavy cap people, we are in trouble with the cap.

WR would now be - Calvin Ridley (WR1), Mohammed Sanu (WR2) and either draft pick or FA (Hardy?)

That would give us

1-10, 1-14

2-41, 2-45

3- 79

2 4's and 2 5's

Imagine drafting in first round - Jonah Williams (new RT) and Ed Oliver (new IDL)

Second round - Chris Lindstrom or Dalton Risner or Garrett Bradbury (new LG) and Rock Ya-Sin (new CB3)

Third round - D'Andre Walker or Chase Winovich (EDGE)

Fourth round - Mecole Hardman (KR/WR4) and  Bryce Love (new RB3)

Fifth round - Foster Moreau (TE3) and Kendall Joseph (LB4)

What a frickin' haul that would be.  Two anchors on the O-Line, two on the D-line and key players at CB, RB, KR and EDGE.    All 9 players would be cheap for the first 3-4 years,

WR:  Ridley, Sanu, Hardy? and Hardman

O-Line:  Mack at C, Matthews and Williams at OT (Sambrailo as swing Tackle), Lindstrom and Carpenter as G (backups Brown and Schweitzer).

RB: Freeman, Smith and Love.

TE:  Hooper, Saubert and Moreau

On D:

DE - McKinley, Beasley, Irvin and Walker

DT - Jarrett, Oliver, Senat and Crawford (Wow!)

LB - Jones, Campbell, Oluokun (with Riley and Joseph as backups)

CB - Trufant, Oliver, Ya-Sin, Kazee (Wow!)

S- Neal, Allen

We would have a very young, exciting team, with only at QB and C with starters over 30.  (and only Sanu and Trufant between 28 and 29)

People don't realize how much Julio opens the field for all our other weapons. We're not nearly as dangerous without him.

That said, coming away with Oliver and J. Williams in the 1st is a nice thought. We'd need a WR in the 2nd and probably another in the 4th to replace Julio's production.

Exactly my thoughts. I dont think Ridley is quite ready for a #1WR role. Julio just does so much more than #AB84 and OBJ just being on the field.

Maybe if you think you can draft Marquise Brown/D.K. Metcalf with one of the picks and they can be an immediate contributor. Save a ton on cap room and will load up on other positions with young and talented players. With that cap room, you can sign another "big name" FA as well.

Jonah Williams or Montez Sweat (draft pick gained from trade), Ed Oliver (our own draft pick), Marquis Brown (draft pick gained from trade), an offensive lineman (our own draft pick), a high priced Free Agent at whatever position all for Julio. It will hurt the passing offense a bit but the overall team will be better.

This is simple. AB and Beckham got traded because they are selfish, immature, drama queens who cause problems in their locker rooms. Julio Jones is a professional and actually treats his teammates and organization with respect.

Exactly, was coming to post the same thing. Those two were so disruptive that NY is taking a 16 mil dead money hit and PITT is taking a 21 mil dead money cap hit to get rid of them.

I'm not opposed to any trade that makes the Falcons better, but, nobody is going to give the Falcons enough to make it worth while to trade him. I'd take a 1st and a 3rd and a good young player for him myself, can't see any team offering that.

Dude, the Falcons are not blowing the tread. You got a talent like Julio who makes the defense be accountable. Julio is a Falcons for life because he was no drama queen like OBJ or AB. Julio has class and a great guy.

You win championship with a guy like Julio because what he brings to the table.

NO PLEASE NO TO METCALF!!!

Dude was third on his team in receiving yards the past 2 years. AJ Brown is the Ole Miss WR we want if we inexplicably trade Julio.

It's amazing how many people would even entertain the idea of trading Julio...this works both ways.

Muttering Julio's name in the same breathe as AB or OBJ is straight up disrespectful.  Julio is not even close to those levels of diva and crazy.  I mentioned in another thread, there are certain players that should be with their teams for life.  Julio is one of them.  It's insane to me how many of y'all want to ship him off.  You guys really covet picks way way way too much.

Board’s infatuation for Metcalf is amusing, to say the least.

I feel you stingbee, and we aren't trading JJ, but when is the last time a SB winner won with an elite WR1?

If you say, Edelman, all you need to do then is trade JJ and pick up the next Edelman in the 7th round (which you won't do unless you are Belichick under a fake user name).
