Was it great defense or bad offense, or combination of both

Recommended Posts

What I saw was a Rams team that was playing great defense and was totally inept on offense.  Once the Patriots figured out the Rams couldn't move the ball at all they played very conservatively.  Goff was horrible and they simply didn't use Gurley enough.  Even Brady missed some easy throws.  It was the most boring SB I've ever seen.  I don't mind watching a defensive game, but that normally includes a lot of pressure, sacks and turnovers.  That game was just ugly in my opinion.

Both teams played great D. Rams have always had trouble stopping the run. It’s one major reason we beat them and neutralized AD in the 2nd half last January.

The Pats just played historically great in their strategy and execution on D. McVay is not the same dude alone as that Eagles approach last SB with an experienced Foles. McVay took blame on himself because Pats took away what worked and Rams couldn’t adjust.

Game wasn’t about players. Coaching display by BB. Now if their QB were better? Maybe he’d cover for the coach a little bit but overall Rams didn’t have answers to having their run game shut down and being dismantled in Xs and Os.

This article says it all:

Both teams gameplanned to counter the opponents offense perfectly. I love a good defensive battle. Especially in the super bowl. I keep seeing people complain because there wasn’t back and forth touchdowns yet those same people may be ones that scream defense wins championships. Pick a side and stay there folks. Offense or defense

I'm personally on the side of entertainment. I don't believe there's only one way to win. There are plenty of ways. I just prefer to watch offenses score. It makes it even more fun when the defense makes a big play on that high powered offense. See the Chiefs and Rams game from earlier this season. That was one of the best football games I've seen in the last 5 years. The score indicates that was just a stupid offensive slugfest. But that's far from the truth. Both defenses made plays in that game. They both forced several turnovers and sacked the opposing QB's. But the offenses just overcame that stuff and lit it up.

I’m a traditional guy. I don’t high flying offenses but I want to see the defense shut that **** down. That rams chiefs game you mentioned was boring as fudge to me because there simply was no defense. I like hard fought games. 53-50 isn’t hard fought imo.

You don't think so? The Rams defense forced 4 Mahomes turnovers. That game felt like a battle to me. And I like good defensive games too. Just not ones that are 13-6. Or, last nights game.

They forced 4 turnovers but yet the chiefs still put up 51 points. Me personally, When I see turnovers like that, i want to see the team who got all of those turnovers win buy 2+ scores. It’s like Kobe scoring 81 and barely beating the Raptors. But again, that’s just me. My line of thinking is far and beyond different than most of you guys
