Should Arthur Blank demand another 3 starters out of this draft like he did with the 2016 draft?

We are actually drafting a few spots ahead of where we did in 2016.

Thoughts

That was the best draft in franchise history. Lots of sour grapes who were mad that we didn't draft Shaq Lawson, Reggie Ragland, Daron Lee, or Kevin Dodd. Glad we have TD and DQ running the draft rather than the TATF arm chair GMs. I had Keanu Neal in my mock in the third round, but it was clear he had 1st round talent.

Their goal should be to draft 4 starters.  Anything less is a joke and waste.  Enough of the "Well he will fit well with our special teams...."  Find some guys who move the needle and put ***** in seats.  OH lets pass on Alvin Kamara because he doesn't OFFER enough on special teams.  He can't play punt and kick coverage, PASSSS!!!!  HOW HARD IS IT TO SEE TALENT?  Is it that difficult?  Or is this team too focused on things they THINK they need besides what they actually see?

I would love to seen the scouting report the Falcons had on Kamara coming out of Tenn.  Good vision, slips tackles, good speed.  BUT CAN'T cover kick offs well, nor provides much in the punt team.  5th to 7th round grade.

How many teams do you really think draft 4 starters in a draft each year?

Fans have such unreal expectations of the draft.....

I am saying thats the GOAL.  The goal shouldn't be, lets draft 3 guys to HELP special teams and yet NEVER help on the field when it matters.  I doubt they even help that much on special teams the past 2 years.  ERIC SAUBERT.  OH MAN, watch out defenses.  Ito THE TOSS Smith.  Yeah watch for him.  Wes The Bull Scweitzer!!!  All these great atheletes who help special teams!  THANK YOU SO MUCH

Quite honestly, thats always been Dimitroffs plan for every draft, FIND guys who will help out in special teams, he says it almost every pick.  Yet, he rarely finds guys who help on special teams or on the field for either side of the ball

AB can demand it all day long but there are no guarantees....we all know it's a crapshoot. The last time he demanded it we got lucky. I'm not trying to take anything away with TD DQ's ability to draft, but most teams would love for that to happen. It's very seldom teams find 3-4 starters from a normal draft unless there are gaping holes to fill on both sides of the ball with zero depth. And if he does demand it and it does not happen - what's he going to do fire the whole scouting dept, gm, coach even if we win 10-12 gms. I don't think AB touches it or at least not publicly.

Do us all a favor and go look at rounds 4 thru 7 in the last 5 drafts and tell us how many players you find that fit your absolutely asinine expectations.

can we look at the guys we actually drafted to see?

I am saying why not go after 7 starters instead of 1 or 2 and 5 failed special teamers?

Sweet lord that has to be the best draft haul in franchise history.

We killed 2 drafts in 3 years, just like Seattle

 2010/2012 Seattle Seahawks

Notable picks '10: OT Russell Okung, S Earl Thomas, WR Golden Tate, CB Walter Thurmond, S Kam Chancellor.

Notable picks in '12: DE Bruce Irvin, LB Bobby Wagner, QB Russell Wilson, RB Robert Turbin, CB Jeremy Lane, OG J.R. Sweezy.

I did some digging...

From our last 5 drafts rounds 4 through 7 have been pretty decent for us...

2013

Levine Toilolo

Kemal Ishmael

2014

Ricardo Allen

2015

Grady Jarrett

2016

We already know

2017

Damontae Kazee

Brian Hill

2018

Ito Smith

Foye

Obviously there are players that are left out, but these are major contributors for our team.

Part of me thinks it may be too narrow of a goal since the team is in a different place than 2015 but the more I think of all the needs, there's a spot for pretty much any talented player. The Falcons don't need to telegraph picks at particular positions and miss out on more talented players elsewhere.

*Stares at the best draft ANY team has had in a while*

Shouts "How hard is it to see talent? Is it that difficult?"

Smitty was a very good coach, but he wasn’t a talent evaluator

We had so many glaring holes when Quinn arrived that it made his job easier

For sure,

He was the one who really wanted Jelly Belly, and Moore. I think he just wasn't sure what fits into his scheme snd what players were going to do it.
