Saw this posted - it was from one Saints fan to another

This was posted to a Falcons Facebook group I belong to - and I thought I'd share it here.   I know there are some Saints fans lurking here -  it's a dose of truth.    Yes - it was a bad call.   Yes, the refs in this league suck - and yes - they suck bad.    There have been calls and non-calls in Falcons games - including post season games - and including the Super Bowl which affected the outcome of the game.   It happens in every game.   But, when the game is said and done - there's more to look at than just those calls.

I look back at the Super Bowl - and I think - **** it - why didn't they call the clear face mask penalty on Sanu when they called the holding on Jake Matthews that took us out of field goal range - making it offsetting penalties.    Did you not see the ref looking straight at them?   Doesn't matter does it - we still lost because there were other factors involved.    This one sided missed call took us to 3rd and 33 and out of field goal range and ultimately led to a punt allowing the game tying drive by the Patriots.  There were other missed calls in the game - most likely both sides.     Doesn't take away the fact that we lost.   We lost - and the Saints lost.    Move on.    Congratulations to the Rams!

Not if I use it first!

The latest from swampers is they are petitioning the league to play the game over because of the blown call.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/irate-saints-fans-start-petition-demanding-nfc-title-game-be-replayed-nfl-could-theoretically-make-it-happen/amp/

I think it'd be wonderful if the league countered with a list of missed calls in the Saints favor and showing they still called more penalties (7) and yards (64) against the Rams than the Saints (3 for 20).

Would justify it more than saying nothing. Might stop others from feeling sympathy at least.

I'm that type of fan yet I get slaughtered here after a Falcons loss while others are making every excuse in the world. It all makes sense now.

To be fair, after SB 51 most here were blaming game management and coaching instead of all the missed penalties (read - most, there were a few blaming that). As we should - could've easily won despite missed calls.

Majority of Saints fans are blaming that one missed penalty. Not acknowledging the stagnant offense at all.

They didn't call the facemask on Sanu because they got what they needed with the holding call on Jake.  Im gonna say this again. At LEAST the Saints fans are putting up a **** storm about it.   Falcon fans got dumped on by the nfl and the refs and didn't do squat about it...

Run the ball 3 times and kick a field goal and there would have been nothing the refs could do.

Make 1, just 1, stop on defense in the 4th quarter, etc. The refs were a factor (like every NFL game ever played) but they were not the reason. Same thing applies here with the saints. They lost. No excuses.

I get what you are saying...but we should've done what exactly?

Kick and scream and piss our pants like the Bagheads fans are doing?  Punch our TVs?  Demand a rematch?

What would it accomplish?

The media is behind the Saints, which fuels their passion.   They weren't behind us because the great comeback win from Brady was a better story.   Doesn't matter anyway.   Media or no media, **** storm or quiet tears, the Saints aren't getting a do-over - they are staying in Lose-iana - while the Rams play in the Super Bowl and neither would we have gotten a Lombardi.

That Sanu call was only one of many in that game, including a blatant holding penalty in front of the ref during a 2 point conversion which may have changed the outcome of the game right there.

Happens here after every single loss. GG

On the drive that Edelman had that ridiculous catch, there was a holding no call in the endzone that would’ve resulted in a safety to effectively end the game.

As a matter of fact, the Patriots ran 101 total offensive plays and were not called for holding ONCE. That is literally impossible.

Yea F that, Saints fans are coming off looking like little babies unable to deal with reality. We are better than that and we showed that after the SB when we correctly blamed our own team for blowing such a big lead even with Refs helping the Pats.

The Saints and their fans are just plain horrible in every possible way and we should not act like them ever.

Calls go both ways during a game and almost always even out in the end.

True, you are a clear thinking poster.

The Saints were still in control of the game despite the no-call. Sean Payton, Drew Brees, and Saints OL who consistently got murdered by Donald and Suh should take blame for the Saints season end. Their defense also gave up some big plays late to the Rams.

That absolutely cost the Saints the game, the fans have every right to be upset, even though I despise them for how they act when they come to Atlanta. This dude here is nothing but an apologist for the NFL, we have several here on these Boards.

Nothing anyone can say about that non-call, other than what the Saints fans are saying. NFL does not even care how open their game fixing is any more, they believe the average fan will forget in two weeks. But they are going to be wrong this time!
