Good news and bad news from AAA: Travis Demeritte, who is still only 24, is tearing it up with a .984 OPS from a .381 OBP and .603 slugging.

Meanwhile, Kyle Wright looks broken. He had another terrible start with five earned runs in four innings. His ERA is up to 7.41 now, which is even higher than his 7.07 with Atlanta this year.

Not broken, but his slider is pretty inconsistent right now, which isn't surprising considering how little he's pitched lately.

More AA Mississippi news:

1. OF Greyson Jenista has been promoted to Mississippi from A+ Florida. The 2018 2nd-rounder continues his rapid ascent up the organizational ladder.

This means AA now has 10 of OFR's top 30 prospects on their roster.

2. The team placed SIX players on the Southern League All-Star team: OFs Cristian Pache and Drew Waters, RHPs Ian Anderson and Jeremy Walker, LHPs Kyle Muller and Tucker Davidson.

Jenista got promoted but his stats don't really support the promotion. Hopefully a bump up will boost his confidence and get him going.

The Braves don't really care that much about performance stats when it comes to promotions. These guys get specialized things to work on, and if they demonstrate they've mastered them they get rewarded by promotion. It's process over performance down there. I was told this point blank by someone fairly high up in the player development apparatus.

Hmph.

(And the Austin Riley grade feels like satire right now.)

Danville's opener got rained out last night, so they played two wild ones today.

In Game 1, Danville won on an extra-inning 2-run homer to 2019 9th-rounder Cody Milligan to win 3-2.

In Game 2, Danville got down 9-4 by the second inning, but got a grand slam by Ray Hernandez, a solo shot by 24th-rounder Bryce Ball, and a  based-loaded walk from Milligan to end up winning it 12-10.

They activated OF Justin Dean and C Ricardo Rodriguez from the IL as well and promoted C Logan Brown, 3B Derian Cruz, and OF Andrew Moritz to A+ Florida.
