See if you can find the old threads where I was nearly assassinated on here for saying I had information that Peerless Price had agreed to a FA deal with us. For two days while the contract was drafted I was eviscerated with invective as not a hint of the potential signing showed up anywhere.

Then the news broke that Peerless Price just signed a FA contract with us.! Haha

I also said when we signed him he was called alligator arms in Buffalo and he wasn’t a true #1.

Price was actually a trade and a terrible one at that. Can't believe Reeves traded a 1st round pick for that bum. People always talk so glowing about Dan Reeves on here but Dan Reeves was pretty much almost completely terrible during his time here. Maybe if he would have used a real GM he and just focused on coaching the Falcons would have done better. But Dan Reeves the GM was horrendous and badly handicapped Dan Reeves the coach. IMO Mike Smith is far and away the best Falcons coach ever, at least of the ones I've seen. I didn't get to see Leeman Bennett, but here's how I rank the Falcons coaching era's that I've seen.

TOP OF THE MOUNTAIN

  1. Mike Smith
  2. Dan Quinn

BIG GAP

  1. Dan Reeves

GRAND CANYON SIZED GAP

  1. Jim Mora
  2. Jerry Glanville
  3. June Jones

ONLY BECAUSE I'VE GOT TO COUNT HIM

  1. Bobby Petrino

Didn't count interim coaches.

she was 37 I was 47.  Wallet was getting low, she had to go.  LOL

That's when you get her a credit card in her own name. And tell her it's like using your money..... it'll buy you a little more time.

#82 here (under a different name).  Being one of the first 100 on the board was an honor! Board was really chill back then with a core group of diehards.  Still wish some that left would come back!  I stepped away for almost two years, forgot my password, and Andrews_31 has been my S/N since!  Board didn't really take off until Vick was drafted, really took off after the Pittsburgh game!

Used to be on the old AOL boards wasnt a lot of posters to begin with, and somebody mentioned the website. I remember being stoked finding so many posts and information, Cappy and Shiney were there and wasn't there an Iowa Falcon or something the 3 am crowd, Supes lol, Pretty sure its all compressed memories now LOL but remember when people started booing Chandler when he started getting drilled, Doug Johnson winning in NY.  My ex came downstairs late one night thinking she would catch me watching porn or talking to women in a chatroom, lol think she was more pissed I was on the Falcons website, knew it wasn't gonna last long then.

I remember you I was also here and on the AOL Falcons board  in the late 90s . We would have a chat with JAM32.com at times..

Thats so funny, got tix to the Falcons Niners playoff game in 98 from a guy on the AOL boards. **** they were great seats at a great price, first game I went to after dropping season tix in 94. 2nd row lower level end right where Jamal dove into the end zone. The place went bonkers. Jamal was so fun to watch play, I was a huge Ironhead fan but watching Jam run, it was like this guy needs carries

Yup. I lost like 20k posts and had to modify my screen name

I've lost more than 100k posts over multiple migrations. I was here prior to 2000, but I'm not sure exactly when.

This place doubles as a fascinating loyalty test, because this team has really put us through it over the past 20 years.

I still can't get over the dog fighting thing or the Petrino/pig sooey thing or Babs killing his own family dog in "self-defense", and all of that was more than a decade ago. As I type all of that, I realize why 28-3 barely even registered on my radar.

I can't believe that you think it was Reeves' choice.  Blank is all about the shiny hood ornaments rather than the trenches.  Since Blank has been around, we've practically ignored the trenches in favor of shiny hood ornaments.  (Peerless Price, Michael Jenkins, Roddy White, Julio Jones, Calvin Ridley)  1st round pick after 1st round pick on WR's.  It's maddening.  All that time, the Patriots have used ZERO 1st round picks on WR's.  We brought in TD to try to take advantage of some of that Patriot magic, but then just ignored the formula.  <throws hands in air>

Wrong. Patriots traded a 1st round pick to the Saints for Brandin Cooks who then immediately after only 1 year with the Patriots was traded to the Rams.

Also, yes, I believe it was Dan Reeves decision. This is a man who traded a 1st round pick to draft TE Reggie Freaking Useless Kelly in the 2nd round of the 1999 draft. That pick ended up being the 5th overall pick in the 2000 draft (since Falcons won only 4 games in 1999) that the Ravens used to draft RB Jamal Lewis. All the Ravens did was ride Lewis to a Super Bowl win.

Under  there were only two WRs  drafted in first round. One in 11 (Julio) and Ridley in 18. That’s not a ton of picjsvlike you make it out to be.?Roddy and Jenkins we’re first rounders under McKay in 04 and  05.

Beyond that not many picks were used on wrs and none above third round. What HD and Hardy? Kerry Meir?

plus for all the shiny ornament biatchin id say over 10k yds from roddy, over 10k and counting for JJ, Ridleys rookie record of 10 TDs all go to show we got dam good football players. Even Jenkins was a six year falcon and close to 5k yds. So not a loss.

So in more modern falcon time under TD we have had a grand total of what 2 first round shiny ornaments drafted 7 years apart?

now how many first round picks did we use on defense since TD took over. Jerry, Spoon, Trufant, Beasley, Takk, and a ton of high picks. Not exactly shiny ornaments.

yiu do the math but you’ll find the majority of our picks both when Smitty was coach and other DQ have been defenses. Lots of defensive players drafted. So shiny ornaments? I just don’t see it
