Shanny Not Playing: Blocked LaFleur From Interviewing His Brother

32 posts in this topic

LMFAO...seems like Shannahan may have a grumpy staff in 2019.

Per Adam Schefter

Packers and HC Matt LaFleur were denied permission to interview/hire younger brother, Mike LaFleur, the 49ers’ WR/passing-game specialist. 49ers told Packers, Browns and Vikings no on talking to Mike LaFleur. Also rejected interview requests on Mike McDaniel and Rich Scangarello.

Guess he saw what happened to the Falcons when you let most of your offensive assistants walk out the door.  I don't blame him.

What could the falcons have done? They couldn't block Shanny genius.

Thank you, but we were talking about the offensive assistants Falcons just allowed to leave with Shanny.  Genius.

If it wasn’t so painful and true I would laugh...

I laugh because trust can be betrayed by sports and no one died. Far worse things in life to be sad about. After that SB, lot of self-love came to the fore.

Its a game. Cheer on your team and be loyal but don’t rest your hopes on random.

The difference is two guys established in a place; that worked together, and that want the same resource in different places. Was Sark hired yet when McDaniels, LaFluer(s) left to SF?

Don't know, but I'm sure Quinn told them he was going in another direction.  If memory serves me I believe LaFleur stated he wanted to stay with the team.  Quinn seemed to already have his mind set on Sark.  Why I don't know.  Neither Sark or LaFleur had any NFL playcalling experience at that point.

To be fair, if he let Lafleur interview it would be unfair to not let others interview, even though it’s an interview with his brother. It’s a business and if you decide to go a certain route, you can’t make exceptions like that.

Sark made no decisions; Quinn did that for him.  Quinn made his bed and is now dealing with it.  Don't matter at this point any way.  Water under the bridge.

Shanny is desperate.

He's 10-22 with zero playoff berths, 20th and 21st ranked offense, 25th and 28th defense.

He isn’t desperate IMO.  His offense was middle of the pack and it was mostly practice squad players with all the injuries,  5,800 yards with a 3rd string QB...and balanced.  13th in rushing, 15th in passing.  That offense is on schedule for next year.

Here is where you can criticize him: #3 overall pick Solomon can’t get on the field and #31 overall pick Foster is off the team for being a monumental azzwhipe.  Not many coaches survive 2 first rd busts in the same draft

If only he protected our lead in SB51 like he protects his support system...oh well on the trophy. At least he got his HC gig!:tiphat:

He loses less than 10 games next year he's done in SF.

He should be desperate. He's 10-22 with zero playoff berths. Had the 20th and 21st ranked scoring offense, 25th and 28th scoring defense in his first two years. Sittin in a division with the Rams and Seahawks who he's 2-6 against. Buddy is so overrated on TATF because of 2016.
