2018 PFF Season Grades and Rankings of Falcons Players

Vic went from 1 sack to 5 sacks after the bye....added several more pressures ,pass defenses and a fumble recovery for a td and his rating goes down??

Also...Hooper was 4th in catches 7th in yards and tied for 10th in td's  and he is the 24th best tight end???!

New rule: if anyone uses pff as an argument for it against a player ........they need to excommunicated from the internet and be forced to spend a month being locked in a room with Miko Grimes

Again man I'm not trying to wear a cape for Vic but bruh.. The dude wasn't that bad.... I have Pff also and I kept my eyes on him even at the end of the year during a 5 game stretch where he had 4 sacks and like 7 QB hits or something and returned a fumble for TD andddd a tip that turned into a pick six.

Dude grade didn't go up ... lol

Again I'm not wearing a cape here... If dude I'd staying here.. He is taking a HUGE paycut....

I just don't think he was that bad lol

Is that their actual rankings? That’s hilarious. Fitzpatrick? Lmfao. Brady sucked this year too at least in Brady standards. In raw #s, Matt is probably around the 4th Best this season. Mahommes, Brees, Luck, and Rivers are the only 4 I’d consider putting over him.

PFF is more about personal grades than stats alone.

Its efficiency per snap essentially. Just understand it instead of the all or nothing crowds.

For example, Ryan had to throw way to much. Hurt his own efficiency and the lethalness.

Missing factor was run game. So it’s only natural their system would drop him lower.  He’d be top 5 with an OL and run game.

I do agree with you that Beasley and Hooper should have been rated higher by PFF.  I also think Tak McKinley should have been rated higher, and possibly Oluokun.   However, I think that Schraeder and Jordan Richards were rated too high by PFF, and should have been even lower.

I haven't used PFF in awhile but they factor in everything, including things the average Joe doesn't pay attention to or have a clue about. Like missed blocking assignments, missed tackles, blown assignments, giving up catches in your zone, etc. Penalties and turnovers have a huge effect on a score. Message board blowhards don't consider these things and get bent out of shape when they don't like a favorite player's score, not realizing their favorite player ****** up a lot of times.

They don't know the assignments so they don't know if something was blown or not

That makes their rating of Beasley that much worse......his snap count went down and his production went up.

And again they do not know the assignments on any given play so it is impossible for them to grade  a player with any sort of accuracy

He isn't. Someone at PFF has it out for him. Like they made some proclamation at some point and are just trying to justify it. If he a disappointment? Sure. But he's not a bad football player.

Pretty easy to watch a football play and determine the assignments of the players.

Only to a point, though.

For example, I've watched Alabama games where even someone with vast experience like Gary Danielson or Todd Blackledge  called out  "Player A" for blowing an assignment, but then later in an interview, Saban would point out in detail what the actual defense was.  Ends up that "Player A" did exactly what he should have and it was actually "a different unnamed player(s)" that blew his assignment.

I applaud PFF for trying to bring analytics to football, but they do a disservice by overstating the quality and reliability of a lot of their raw data.

Great post, but wtf.. It's a eye opener to see the lack of talent we've acquired

You have to account for talent that is underperforming. Alford. Trufant. Schrader. Vic Beasley. All have played at or near probowl level and last couple years none of them have been more than a decent starter.
