Dan Quinn: “Let’s make sure we get nastier.”

You can't coach nasty.  Bring in players who are already naturally that way.  IMO there's still a disconnect between what DQ wants and what the front office provides.

Who would you all say is currently a nasty player on the team?

Going to go with "Attitude" over "Nasty".  I will say the below players usually play with an extra large chip on their shoulder.

Offense:  Julio, Sanu, Hardy, Free, MR2, Hill

Defense:  Grady, Jack, Takk, Bruce, Keanu, Debo, Rico, Kazee, Dre, Poole.

Special Teams:  Bethel

Guys who I think do not play with enough attitude on a game to game basis.

Beasley and Trufant

Hard hitting, quick scoring, "fastest in the NFL" buzzsaw that shut down and stomped all over Seattle, Green Bay, and New England for 2 1/2 quarters. That game destroyed this team, but it looks like moves are being made to finally rectify that.

I don't think that's what the definition of identity is but ok I guess, good luck with that

So give your definition.

I feel like like "hard hitting and quick scoring team that plays loose" is fine as an identity, but go ahead. What's the identity for the Chiefs? The Rams? The Cowboys? If I was giving one for each of them, they'd be something equally generic. I feel like the team lost their identity, but acting like the Superbowl team never had one to begin with is stupid as ****.

We never had an "Identity" under DQ. Thats the point

You have no point. You're wrong, and that isn't subjective. You can't just say you're refuting something by saying "no we don't"

The Superbowl team 100% had an identity. I've already described it to you. If that isn't an identity, describe an identity for one of the aforementioned teams in the NFL right now. If you can't, or just say "not worth responding/you don't get it" or some other cowardly derivative, don't get mad when others can observe how blatantly full of sh*t you are.

KC is Pass Heavy

Dal is Run First

Rams run first

What are the Falcons???

Lmao, that's just a preference for running/passing on offense, but fine. Atlanta is pass heavy. There you go. That's a crap identity, just like your crap definitions, but there you go.

When I think identity, I think attitude and who the team is.

What's our identity then? If I'm wrong give me an answer.

But we had over 2,000 rushing yards last year how are we pass heavy????

We had 1847...around what the Chiefs had this year. And less this year. We're pass heavy. I don't think that's our identity, but according to you, it's what we are.

"Goff had 4688 passing yards this year, how are they run first???"

I feel like I'm actively losing brain cells in this conversation. How in the world do you think stats equate to identity? And if you do, how do you think we don't have one now that this goofy point has been refuted?

Agree it's an attitude.   I think what Quinn is requesting--and probably what got Manuel fired--is consistency of play.  We see the guys play physical at times and then they play lackadaisical at times.

Personally I'd like to see these guys tighten up , whether in man or zone, and attack while the ball is in the air.  Too many stand there waiting on the opponent to catch the ball and make a move--reactive instead of proactive.

It's the DC's job to ensure they play to the standard they expect during games.

Ok so my memory was off by 150 yards and if you watch the Rams you'd know they run alot of dump off plays that get YAC. Goff probably has around 450-500 attempts this year Matt Probably has around 600.

And you still have yet to answer the question. If we had 1800 rushing yards last year and less this year, how is this a pass heavy team. We ran the ball last year for 1800 threw for 3900, this year we ran for 1500 threw for 4600. Team has no identity

But hold up - weren't you just saying we aren't pass heavy?

Kinda sounds like you're arguing against yourself, yeah?

Goff has 561 passes, Ryan has 608. Equates to less than 3 passes a game.

Mahomes has 580 passes - that's only one more pass a game than Goff. Guess they aren't pass heavy.

I'm done with the conversation tbh. What you think is identity isn't what I personally do, and if we're using your criteria, we had an identity this year (personally, I think we lost it). Quinn is deadset on getting a fast and dictating defense this next year and using the run to set up the pass. We'll see how it plays out.

The point is there is no consistency, you can ignore the facts all you want. One year were airing it out, next year were balanced, then we're a defensive team then we are unbalanced. We're looking at our 3rd DC and 3rd OC in 5 years under DQ. At some point your have to face the facts as to what the real issues are.

One more point to make is that you don't need every player on the team playing with that edge/nasty streak. You need a good mix of guys who play on that edge and guys who are that steady calming force. If you have too many guys playing on the edge, things can go south really quick if things are going badly.  I actually like the mix of players we have on the defense when we are healthy.

Offensively, I just want to see more nastiness in the running game. Running backs finishing runs and linemen finishing blocks by playing a little past the whistle. You see other teams do it to us all the time.

I think the one position where they have to stay even keel for the most part is the QB. They have so much going on that it is detrimental for them to get too fired up.

Quinn could have looked at the past decade of this teams roster and seen that we have been undersized on both lines for most of that time and it results in us giving up leads late. Why can the average joe see this team is always 20 lbs under weight on both lines and we get thrown around like rag dolls and they coach can't see this?

This fast finesse crap should not apply to your OL and DL. It does not work, you need size and strength to mix in with your fast skill position guys to create a balance and to also allow for situational personnel groupings. You need size to stop short yardage situations on D and to go for short yardage situations on Offense. When all our guys are 20lbs under weight on the lines it makes that difficult

With getting rid of all 3 coordinators and claiming that you're gonna scrub the whole O-line accept for Alex Mack (who has gotten old) and Jake Matthews. You KNOW 2019 is make or break for Quinn. Words aren't going to do anything for me. Most Super Bowl winning head coaches stayed quiet during the off season and just went to work. 6-10 record next season folks...... same record as Mike Smith before he went out the door, don't bleep at me!
