None of the six highest-paid NFL quarterbacks made it in the playoffs.

They are already talking about a separate part of the CAP just for QBs - because of what has happened over last few years, essentially a sep escrow for QB and the other 52 players will be under the regular cap - makes sense because right now teams cant really team build if they have to pay a decent qb and are just going all out with a qb on a rookie contract,

Matt Ryan is top 5 or top 7 in every major passing category. He accounted for 39 TDs. He earned his money. The team by and large sucked this year.

Yeah man. And I’m sick of these fools only looking at the average salary. Matt Ryan only has a 17.7 million cap hit THIS year.

Stafford had a new coach who doesn’t seem to totally get the job yet.
Carr’s coach dismantled the team around him.
Garoppolo went down pretty early.
Rodgers and Ryan both had pretty great years. Rodgers struggled with injuries though.
Everyone knows Cousins was overpaid.

Your agenda is showing. Ryan's cap hit this year was 17.7 mil, good for 16th in the league. His average salary has no bearing on his impact on the cap for this year.

And his hit is 14th next year, assuming no QB is signed for higher.

End of topic...

Matt Ryan's contract is back loaded. The seasons after next year he will be in the top 2 of highest paid players.

This is not a coincidence....

Aaron Rodgers ($33.5M)
Matt Ryan ($30.0M)
Kirk Cousins ($28.0M)
Jimmy Garoppolo ($27.5M)
Matt Stafford ($27.0M)
Derek Carr ($25.0M)

You do know that Tom Brady would blow this exercise up if he was compensated normally.  Look I will actually agree that MR2 is overpaid but so is every last non-rookie QB in this league including our clipboard holder.  I look at that list and kinda think we're getting way more value from our overpaid QB.  So yeah.

Where are they talking about this? I am curious.

I agree that it is a problem, but those sort of solutions can end up creating super-teams like in the NBA.

Probably not true because by that point other really good younger QB's will have signed bigger contracts or be ready to sign them than they signed this year with ryan with the cap space going up so much each year.

Where's the breakdown for the other QBs on the list? Why this reflexive and defensive recounting of just Ryans year?

This isn't even a fair thread when Carr is being shipped off next year, Cousins is just a shorter Oswelier, Jimmy G is on IR, and we all know what Stafford is.
